Default TPMS false reading?

Recently I began noticing when I start the car, the TPMS screen says inflate tire. Then the screen above shows up suggesting the tires are underinflated. If I press the return arrow , it gives a tire pressure reading which is in fact correct (I verified it). I tried resetting the TPMS but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? Is it maybe a battery issue?

Let the car sit overnight and then check the tire pressure, make sure you have the right pressure for the setting in the tire information input screen such as comfort or otherwise. I’ve found that the TPMS is quite accurate and matches my gauge readings.

If the pressures and the settings are correct the warning should clear after a few miles of driving.

If the warning doesn’t reset then you have to see if you have a TPMS fault or the battery is weak. Low battery charge has been posted as a source of numerous problems.

Good luck.

Default Mine did this too

Seemed like a glitch. I fixed it by indicating max load then comfort again and it seemed to reset after a few miles. The front tiers had to be at least 30 (i was trying to run 29/34.

what is the "correct" pressure that it's reading?

you have two target pressures, comfort and full load. full load pressures are super, super high. if you're below the target pressure, the screen you are showing is correct.

wife's cayenne is doing the same thing. most likely the batteries in the TPMS senders are dying.

I had that happen on my Macan and my 911. I think it is a glitch - for example on my 911 the tire pressure readings didn’t change, just that a warning came on saying the right rear was -6 Psi below recommended and the tire needed more air.

The tire was already inflated to 42 so no way was I going to add another 6 Psi. So I went into setting and switched the tire type to a different one, and back to the current setting, and the system gave a message about no readings till it re-learned…after driving around for 10 mins or so that low tire pressure warning went away.

similar story with my Macan but that time I brought it to the dealer who said the tire needed more air and inflated both rears to 44! The warning went away by the time I drove home and I just let the air back out till it was down to 39. And it hasn’t come back on.

Interesting. I will try both of these methods and hopefully one will work. Thanks
