I have a 13 C4S and I was going to change the oil in the front AWD differential yesterday when I saw there was a lot of this very thick very black oil like substance everywhere after I removed the plastic underbody cover. I am guessing it's a leak from the differential because what else has oil in that part of the car. There wasn't much oil on the differential itself. Mostly everything around it. I have never had any warning lights or codes from during normal driving though. What's the correct fix from this and could the oil be from anything else?
Looks like your CV joint opened up due to a tear in the boot? You can repack it and put a new boot on but likely the joint will need to be replaced sooner than later depending how long it’s been spinning with lube and exposed to dirt etc.

To help illustrate, the differential seal is at the green line, and that's where your differential leak would likely come from. The red line is (roughly) where your axle grease is exiting the CV joint.

Indy shop here wanted ~$1k for both front axles.
One axle is booked at 2.3 hours labor. I'd budget around $800 from a dealership, much less from an indy. If it isn't under warranty, definitely have an indy shop do it. Nothin' special about the work, it's just tedious.
