Gave up, and of course now have an allocation!
After waiting for a ‘21, then a ‘22, and then a ‘23 across multiple dealerships, I finally bought a good CPO ‘17 cab.
…and of course after a week of ownership the ‘17 breaks down & is in the shop.
…and of course today I get the call that a ‘23 allocation is available!

I’m frustrated that I finally get the call after years of waiting that I say must now say ‘no’ AND not be able to drive my 911 to make me feel better about it.

I’ve loved every generation of Porsche except for one, and that’s the 992. That rear end is just something I’ll never be able to get my mind around. The car looks hacked off at the rear. It’s stubby and completely out of proportion. It’s simply; UGLY.
So that’s my 2 cents.
I think the 991.2 you bought is an absolutely beautiful car. But based on your posts (and the Corvette you mention over and over again), maybe the Porsche isn’t what you thought it was going to be, and you think a 992 might change that, but I don’t think it will.
Maybe the Vette is the right car for you after all? (shrug)

Last week did the Porsche Track Experience Precision 1 day class using a 992 CS PDK, PSE
Observations:
1. Love the sound of the 992 PSE versus the 991.2 PSE
2. Annoying that you have to enter a few layers of menus to adjust the vents for the HVAC.
3. Don't care for the shift lever on the 992.
4. Prefer the rear fascia of the 991.2
5. The 992 handled very well, seemed more settled over undulations than my 991.2 GTS.
6. Never engaged the TC during the autocross sessions, despite running in 'normal' mode which was surprising.
7. The 992S pulled as hard as my GTS when it was stock.
The instructors all universally said that the 992 was a step up from the 991.2 in terms of handling and track performance.
I like the power of my 991.2 GTS (with a tune), but am sure that the 992 GTS will also be a monster when tuned. Definitely walked away preferring the 992 PSE exhaust note.
I prefer how the 991.2 looks, but would not complain if my 991.2 sounded like the 992. Will see how it sounds once I add the Soul Trackback exhaust system.

Interesting in regard to the PSE. My 991.2 PSE is more than enough and that’s coming from an NA. Inside and outside it’s plenty loud and makes all sorts of crazy unexpected sounds. My neighbors hate me. I’ve always felt the the 992 is very subdued even with PSE, maybe it’s interior symposium? I’ve only heard them from the outside though. No interest in driving one.
It was the first thing I noticed at WOT.

Own a 991.2 and drove the 992 S at Barber when they were first put on the track, 100 mi on the odometer. Had previously driven 991.2 GTS there. As to which one I preferred, the interior and the added touch screen controls were a minus on the 992, then the complexity of the door handles, the mostly digital dash.and the shifter. 991.2 for me.
Which one is quicker, the 992 with the 8-speed PDK and extra HP will be the one. But most owners won't be able to drive as fast as the cars can go in the right hands. In the end it's personal preference.
You've got a nice 991.2, once it's sorted out I believe you'll be happy with it.
As to the 991.2 PSE, it's plenty potent on my C4S but I can't say how it compares with 992 PSE.

waiting 3 years for an allocation, getting frustrated and then buying CPO that winds up in the shop and then finally getting call that I have an allocation
thought this sort of stuff only happens to me
sorry to hear, but once your 17 gets fixed and on the road, you'll forget about all the BS
