Water pump and coolant flush
I'm having my indy guy do a coolant flush on my 2013 CS2 with 50k. Should I also replace the water pump and thermostat while he's at it?

I’m not a mechanic or expert but if it has never been changed out I would do it at the same time especially at 50k. Peace of mind.

I had my coolant changed but my local Indy was so honest he actually said it wasn’t strictly necessary. He didn’t recommend messing with the water pump or thermostat. I had 32k and car was 10yo.

Unless there's signs of leaking, I wouldn't change it.

If it ain't broke don't fix it, that's my motto.

I’d change them both and I’d also do the belts too. Car will be 10 years soon. The purge process is a real PITA, nice to do it once. I’d also closely inspect idler bearings. There is a OEM checklist you can follow.

i went ahead and had them change both on my 2013 S while doing the coolant flush last year. was at 50k miles and knew it hadn't been done yet via the service history/records. my indy didn't say it needed to be done but also said it wasn't a bad idea. more of a piece of mind thing imho, especially at 9 years and 50k miles. if the car had lower miles (30k-ish or lower), i woulda passed on it.
