Default Am I overthinking this?

I just stopped by to pick up my car after the 120K service and the mechanic mentioned that after the oil change he checked the level and the car said it was overfilled. So he drained the oil into a “clean container” and measured it. It was the right amount so he put it back and the oil level shows that it is correct.

would you be worried about some debris from this oil transfer getting into the engine? I’m tempted to have him just change the oil again. I’m headed out on a 5000 mile road trip and I don’t need trouble in the desert or mountains…😬

They know what they're doing, and if anything DOES go wrong it's on them.

This would have been the easiest with no chance for contamination. If after draining a bit, you need more, then pull out a new quart.

All the debris sucked up some of the oil.
