Default Brake Pads - 991.2 GTS <--> GT3 Sizing

Question - I have a left over set of GT3/GT4/etc. pads and I'd like to use them on my 991.2 GTS. It looks like there's a 5mm height difference in the spec, f/r chamfering, but nothing else that I can find.

Has anyone cross mounted these in either direction?

I have used the pagid yellow GT3 sized pads in my 991.2 GTS quite successfully.
If what you have fits in the calipers, then they would probably work.

What about rears?

Rears ... DO NOT FIT. I'm headed to the track this week and there's no local dealer, so I was pretty determined (seemed necessary, given the 4 day timeline) to make them work since I had it on ¿good? authority that they would work. After grinding the backer plates down a bit to get a better fit I saw that the pad was actually overhanging the rotor - that was a show stopper. A real shame to junk a set of $450 pads.

Fronts worked perfectly.

I wish I had seen this before and could have saved you some trouble! Below are the different pad shapes for the 991/992 GT3 and 991 GTS, along with dimensional drawings for each. As you found out, the rear pads from the 991 GT3 are taller than those on the rear of the GTS. While the rear GT3 pads will drop into the rear GTS caliper, but you will have considerable pad overhang near the disc hat and they won't fit properly.

The first shape below is the front, which is identical between the 991.2 GTS and 991.1 & 991.2 GT3. I will use Ferodo pad shape codes since this is the brand we recommend and offer. Below each shape/drawing is the list of vehicles that particular shape fits. Hyperlinks to our site are also included if you need to purchase Ferodo pads. Here is a guide to Ferodo pad compounds if you're unsure what you need: Which Ferodo Racing Pad Compound is Right for Me?

Front Ferodo FCP4664- Fits front of both 991.1&2 GT3 and 991.2 GTS and others (mostly GT/top spec trim levels for several chassis).

The FCP4664 fits the front of these vehicles:

Ferodo FCP4665: This is the rear mate to the above pad for recent Porsche GT cars. It won't fit non-GT cars however, as it is considerably taller and it is very slightly thicker.

The Ferodo FCP4665 fits the REAR of the following vehicles:

Ferodo FCP4713 fits the rear of the 991 GTS and numerous other vehicles.

Below is the list of vehicles the FCP4713 fits. This one was used on some variants of the Panamera and was carried over to certain trim levels of 991 and 992.

Hopefully people find this helpful in the future. Sorry I couldn't save you the hassle this time pginbtv!
