If anyone is curious, here is the most recent video, compiled with multiple examples of the noise. The dark portion was taken inside the car with the camera down. Sorry for the park distance beeps, but the popping can be heard anyway.

Is it one pop or multiple pops each occurrence. I know if I wash my 991 with pdk and put it in garage right away then dont use the car for a week or so I get a noise like this. It is one quick pop like this. I attribute it to pads sticking to the rotors. Maybe one of your brakepads doing the same. Maybe have someone look at brake pads to see if that is the issue.

Not helpful, but just wanted to clarify that we're not experiencing the same popping noise. Your noise has me completely stumped and I really hope you get it figured out!

Both. Sometimes single pops, sometimes multiple.

Good tip on the brake pads. I’ll check that.

911 is back at the dealer. They were appreciative of the video and are fitting it in to their schedule. Back to rolling in the 4 cyl Macan loaner (which I'm appreciative for).

Hope for some good news soon. Will update what I hear.

And now we've reaching the stage of acrimony with the dealer. I dropped the car off Tuesday morning, as of yesterday afternoon, it had just been sitting. Following harshly worded emails, threats regarding surveys and PCNA, this seems to have gained a minuscule level of motivation. As of late day yesterday, a tech had replicated, but not diagnose the noise. My beef here is two-fold: 1. This has taken multiple visits and really hasn't been seriously prioritized. 2. You've got my car and don't appear to be working on it. I get labor shortages and the need to triage things, but at some point, perhaps the increasingly annoyed guy who has been in 4 times should actually be the priority.

This doesn't make me feel differently about Porsche the brand, but it's sure making me feel differently about this dealership.

The Service Manager emailed this morning to advise faults were found in the system for the air cleaner solenoid valve driver. It's a crossover valve that opens and closes depending on engine load. Part is inbound and expected to be installed Friday. They asked me to take the car over the weekend and test it.

I'm glad there is progress, but it's interesting that it took 4 visits to pull codes....

No idea if this is the actual cause of the noise, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

In Jeopardy style:

I’ll take no fix for $400 and axle shaft for $500.

Thankfully, it's under CPO. My gut tells me what they diagnosed isn't the fix, but I'm pleased they are at least working on it.

Update:
My beloved car is finally home from the dealer. Two of the changeover valve solenoids were changed. The 13's were not part of the campaign for the 12's that changed out ALL the CoV's. So far, four drives into the car coming home, no popping sound. Fingers crossed that remains the case.

Smiling ... I NEVER hear stories like this on the Subaru site (I have an Ascent).

Almost all Subaru stories are about dealers responding quickly, nicely and helpfully.

That's great it seems to be resolved! Which COVs were changed?

There is a COV for the sound symposer, and a related vacuum actuator. Perhaps the sound symposer was accentuating the sound into the cabin. Be sure to also check that vacuum actuator. I never experienced your noise, but on my car the flap inside the vacuum actuator was broken. I ended up removing the actuator and plugging one port of the COV. Separately, I also plugged and removed the sound symposer.

I forgot I posted a thread on this. https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1247...-this-pic.html

I'm going to stop by and pick up the paperwork this afternoon and I want clarification on which COV's were changed. The dealer held the paperwork open for a couple days to cut down on my survey opportunities if this went sideways (my own conclusion). Luckily, on one of the previous visits, they HAD closed it out, so I had a pending Porsche survey in my inbox which was mentioned several times.

I'll confirm which COV's were replaced once I get it back. My preference would have been if the warranty would have replaced all 6, but right now, I'm happy to have the car back and not continuing to make the noise.

Paperwork in hand - the Air cleaner flap solenoid, driver and the acoustic simulator were the two COV's that were changed out. Because I'm really particular, they are building a quote for me to update the remaining 4 COV's. Still no noise, 4 days of driving. Thankful for everyone's ideas, help, and input.

Thank you and Aha! In my opinion they are both useless, as the noise is indirectly routed to the cabin through a “drum” membrane that seals the engine side from the passenger side. It likely limits the tone of the sound as well.
