Default Michelin PS4S Question

Bought a set of N0 spec tires 9k miles ago, rears are ready to be replaced. Only tires available are the K3 (Ferrari spec) ps4s. Can't imagine I'll have any trouble with this combo? Knowledgeable thoughts are much appreciated.

My car is a daily driver country road twisties machine. No track days, rarely at or above even 100mph. My fronts probably have another 7-10k miles left in them and tread depth is consistent on both sides. My cold psi is 30psi front and 33psi rears.

As an aside, my passenger side rear just started to show cords on the inside whereas the driver side rear looks gtg. I'd always been taking a peek at the tread on the driver side only for some reason when it occurred to me to have a look, got my attention last night when I looked at the passenger side too. Tire pressure is consistent according to my daily view of the tpms on the dash. Wondering what could have caused the uneven wear?

The short answer is no, the K3 spec tires are different and not recommended unless you do all 4 corners. If you want better wear from your tires you should look into a little more aggressive alignment. I personally have an order in at Tire Rack well before I'm due to change since the rears are often on backorder. Good luck!!

Not specifically about PS4S, but I imagine Michelin takes similar approach to PS4S development as they do with SC2’s.

I am considering ordering two sets of rears with single set of fronts, just to have the rears on hand regardless of supply chain issues, and the 2:1 consumption ratio seems to be a safe bet.

Crapola. Ferrari & Ford Performance full sets of ps4s are back ordered. How do we like Continental Extreme Contact Sports at all four corners?

I'd read about this quite a bit in the past and definitely buy into the efficacy of matched sets, particularly for routine high speed use track cars. That said, I'm not a tire guru and will likely never be anywhere near even 7/10 of what this car can do as it's exclusively a public road going vehicle. I'd planned on ordering a new set of rears with plenty of time given supply chain constraints but failed at adequate inspection these last several weeks and suddenly want new rubber "right now".

My thought was "how bad can a mis-matched set of ps4s's be during the summer at the pace I drive especially with moderately low cold psi?" My morning commute is 30 minutes of country roads, coffee, radio, relaxed. It's the afternoon weekday world championships when I usually take the long way home.

I have regular old PS4S's (no N-spec or anything) on my 911 and so far I haven't flown off any cliffs and rear ended anybody. I think the whole thing is a bit over rated unless you're doing a lot of track days (in which case you'll be on different tires anyway).

I wouldnt do mismatched tires at this point, especially because you will have one axle with used, and the other with new. Thats already a large change in the dynamics.

The new Conti's look great. I am going to try a set next. (Extremecontact Force)

The little difference between the compounds will not be an issue and I don't think anyone would be able to tell on the street.

If you really think you must the extreme contacts are pretty good, low road noise good response and with the surprise benefit of a lot less acorns in parking lots.

The Extreme Contact have been getting good reviews. They are a very good option from what others have said.

Tire rating is all but meaningless for sane, legal street driving. The only difference you'll feel is in your wallet.

I'm running N0's PS4S on the front and non brand specific PS4S on the back. All is well.

I have 7500 miles on Conti Extreme Contact DWS06 and they have been phenomenal. Just was in to do something else and dealer measured treads at 7mm on all 4 corners. Great at speed, great in weather, less noise than the Pirelli's.

Highly recommend.

My thoughts of recent were to get another set of ps4s for this summer and do an all-season in the fall. No complaints with these in summer driving conditions? I can get an entire set of these like right away. How much would a guy really be giving up with all seasons during the summer?

They measured out only 1/32" of wear on both the front and rear? Do you have the means to confirm measurement? This strikes me as super unusual.
