you're supposed to push downward on the red arrow.
the drawing on the left, the green L shape is the thing you're pushing down on, which will lever up over a bump on the connector drawn in red, allowing you to separate them. I find a lot of the time I need to slip a small flat head screwdriver down the connector and lift the green part upward, as I can't get enough force to get the levering action to work in tight spaces. either that or I'm doing it wrong. 50/50 chance.
