Default Help with 12C2S failed PDK

Good morning all. I am hoping to get some advice on how to proceed here. 6 weeks ago my 2012 C2S died with the tansm fault poss no r gear drive on poss error. I brought it to one of Connecticut's top Porsche indy shop. They have gone through the process of checking all alternatives to replacing the pdk (distance sensor, valve body... etc etc). Long story short it needs a new pdk unit... After weeks of searching, and having the shop talk to everyone (dealers, race teams, etc) who claims to have one available, we have come up dry. We even tried reaching out to junkers all over the country as well... Nobody seems to have one available. Does anyone here have any contacts that could help us locate a new pdk unit... Please... I am desperate here... my dream car has become nothing more than a paperweight and I am really not liking the idea of selling it as a roller.

Sorry to hear this. It's really a shame that these gearboxes can't be serviced easily.

A lot of us have had failures with the reverse switch in the manual transmission, and in searching for potential solutions (before Porsche stepped up and issued an extended warranty to affected cars), this shop came up: https://www.westsidetransmission.com...e-transmission

car-part.com is a junkyard search engine. Worth looking into. Plugging in 2012 911, AT 991 gen, I found four transmissions as outlined below. Seems the going rate for them is under $10k, even.

Limited slip units:
One at All Automotive Imports Inc. USA-TX(Houston) 713-941-3377 / 713-941-7278
Two at Elisiah Auto Parts Sales Inc. USA-FL(Ft.-Lauderdale) 954-745-0586 / 786-609-5671

Non-LSD units:
One at Carguts USA-SC(Blacksburg) 866-217-6706

I know they have 2013 991.1 C2S, I assume the transmission is still ok given the damage, you may want to check the status of that car and if they still have the transmission. Ask for Oleg, he was SUPER helpful and they are responsive on instagram, but they also have phone number on their profile you can call.

Sorry to hear that you are going through this. I had my PDK replaced last year and the dealership was able to source one from Germany. Anyways an Indy in Orlando,FL called Drivers Choice has been successfully repairing PDKs at a reasonable cost. I would have gone with them but at that time they weren’t repairing them. Maybe give them a try.
Good luck.

Read the thread “Guide to Repairing the PDK Transmission” linked above. It is a long read but necessary. Have car transported to one of the handful of reputable shops that are replacing the ZK distance sensors with the T Design model. These shops are discussed in the thread and located in Orlando, FL; Atlanta, GA; Scottsdale, AZ and VirginiaBeach, VA. Only use a shop who has successfully done the repair previously. Best wishes.

Sorry to hear about your PDK issue, I love the feature, but very scary to know there is limited resources for dealing with the issues. I have a 2013 C4 with PDK with 16K miles, my CPO runs out this month, but I went ahead and bought the extended warranty using Fidelity Platinum to cover the car for 5 more years mostly because of the PDK issues that seemed to be very alarming. I was wondering how many miles you have on your vehicle? I hope you find a solution. Please keep us updated.

Good luck

I’m sorry your PDK has malfunctioned and your Porsche is a paperweight. Hindsight is always 20/20, but for anyone reading this thread, and considering your dream car 911 with PDK, get a warranty! It’s crazy reading these posts and owners buying expensive, complex machines but not getting a Fidelity warranty. Absolutely baffling IMO.

A Platinum 10 year/ 100K miles Fidelity warranty purchased prior to 10K miles cost me $4200 with $100 deductible.

Unfortunately, those options don't exist in Canada, as far as I have been able to find. Might be lucky to find a plan that covers up to $5K maximum per claim or something ridiculous like that. I'm curious if any Canadian members have had this issue and if there are any repair options like the ones listed above in FL, GA, VA, AZ.
