Default Feedback: 991.2 Turbo Upgrade E85

Hello:

Recent owner of a base 991.2 carrera, and seeking power upgrade.

Kindly provide recommendation on turbo upgrade (GTS, or Pure), as well as tuning (APR, or other).
Thanks in advance.

Best,

L

Any OTS tune works. I think you can protune as well on these platforms if you have a cobb tuner near you. I know @blackcheetah has gone full insanity with his 911 so maybe he'll chime in there. Not many people have done both sides so you'll get people saying "I have (tune) and it's great."

E85 is an enormous pain in the *** as these cars do not have a flex sensor. You're either full E or no E. If it's a street car, it's generally not worth the hassle unless you live in an area where E85 stations are super plentiful (and will not venture out of said area).

Turbo upgrades, APR has some stuff. @enzotcat I believe has the fully aftermarket turbo setup in his car that sees a lot of track time, he should be able to speak to that.

As always there are lots of threads on each of these individual subjects, so expect people to pop in here with links to those threads if you haven't found them yourself, yet!

Hi,How fast is your goal? I have 3 setup for you depend $$..if you upgrade to big turbo its because your going for big hp and have to upgrade fbo and clutch or you will be overkill for nothing.. you can go fast with stock turbo and à cobb e85 protune only so no need to upgrade pdk etc..APR sell the gts turbo stage 3 tune no need to upgrade nothing ...
All dépend your need... i you want to track your car and go faster speak to 4point0 gentleman to speak with

@blackcheetah thank you for your reply.
What is the threshold of the PDK box? Can the car handle 700whp?
I have been looking at the APR solution -- GTS turbos and e85, will generate 585whp, and reliable power.
I have also read that there is a Pure turbo upgrade, and a TiAl tubo upgrade.
Which makes the most power reliably, without having to upgrade the clutch on the PDK?

700whp on stock pdk will not last long even with tcu...you will need to go dodson clutch (expensif mod)
If you want to stay reliable for around500- 550whp go ARP GTS stage 3 tune
Btw you have a base or s?

@blackcheetah I have a base carrera. I just intalled a Cobb AP, running 93oct map. The car feels more awake, but I am yearning for more.

CongratI realy like your blu pcar
For the cobb the ots map are not the fastest i have test it..you need a protuner who can work a good e85 tune for you.i realy licked to work with Protomotive who did a good job for my Tial M800
There is also M Engineering who are the best tuner out there and can also protune your car...
Your stock turbo is pushing .8bar stock i think so you can push it alot more with e85 for sure and dont cost you to much...sorry my grammare...

Our cars are very similar.
2018 GTS - Sport Chrono is standard
COBB Protune
TiAL M800 Turbos
AMS I/c. (Yours TiAL)
TiAL intake pipes
TiAL elbows
Vektor Headers (Yours Fabspeed)
BMC Filter
Tubi Catless
E40 (Looking into water/meth)
Stock clutches with M-Engineering increase clamp
Stock PSE
IPD Plenum
OS Giken mechanical LSD.
PWR centre radiator
GT3 Front end.
Turbo smart diverter valves

I won’t go into suspension, bars, brakes as they’re not relevant to power. Although I have never had axel hop.

So here is something to consider.

Stock GTS tuned on E40 or E85 with headers and catless is a beast. I had Akra 300 cats and could out accelerate a GT2-RS. But here is the thing. If the straights were longer, the long legs of the 2-RS would stretch out and catch me.

So if its brutal instant acceleration, then GTS turbos on E85 or E40.

Here’s the interesting part. M800’s shift the power curve to the right. They do not hit as early so it doesn’t seem as hard. But they also do not run out of puff. The GTS hits hard and fades and drops off at the end. The M800 build and do not stop building. They create silky smooth, effortless and seeming endless power.

The car is easier to drive with them, and all mechanics agree, its less stressful on parts. That blew my mind. More power, faster and kinder to parts . Because its not all at once.

Your passengers are more relaxed with M800.
Its like putting a frog in warm water and slowly turning up the heat. Whereas GTS is dumping him in hot water and he jumps out.
