Default underbody panel (door sill) clips - huh ?

Going on a limb here, probably not a common DIY..

My driver side underbody door sill panel was falling off after driving over something. Missing a clip or 2... I did my due diligence and ordered the replacement part.. I's a 981.xx part but it applies to the 991 everywhere you look... Horribly expensive for a plastic clip too...Search 991 cli pfor underbody sill, you get what I got. But, side by side with what my car came with, there's no way it works... The bottom part of the clip is identical down to the rubber ring, but the top part is 15mm+ too big and different.. See side by side pic... What the hell ? Is there a diagram of these things somewhere ? My door sill underbody panel still has the correct factory # so I know it's right, the clip too (in theory), and yet totally different and won't go thru the openings.. See pic ! Anyone seen this ?

Dammit.. more sleuthing, got it.. Despite this new part above coming up everywhere, that's not it.. The ld part was 991 504 597 00 and is superseded by 9P1 853 385 OEM.. UGH ! More waiting...
