Default Retrofit Paddles to a Multifunction Steering Wheel?

For a 991.1, what does it entail to retrofit paddles on to a multifunction steering wheel? Is it something thats added to the current wheel, or entire wheel replacement is necessary?

I saw this. No instructions unfortunately. Is this only an aftermarket option or is there a cheaper oem solution?

There doesnt seem to be any DIYs or videos with my quick search. It tends to be entire wheel replacements.

I bought these. Much cheaper than the tech-art and do basically the same thing.

Physically nice but the wiring is a bit of a pain if you want them to operate like a true +/- paddle setup. The quality of the paddles themselves is good - they are nicely made, however, the action still relies on the button setup that is currently in the car, so it’s not as direct or positive as an OEM paddle shifter.

Ideally I want the sport design wheel - but I have espresso leather and so need an espresso wheel for it to look right. They NEVER come up used and I’m looking at $2k for a new one, plus the stalk to replace the multifunction controls. I might do it, but then again I really like the multifunction wheel as it is and, honestly, the PDK is so good that I really don’t use the paddles much.

Also - if you want to just rewire the buttons to work like paddles then you can do that too. There’s a decent DIY here: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...e-paddles.html

May be better and easier to just swap steering wheels and get the sport steering wheel.

Do those make the OEM buttons stationary? The Techart paddles do, which is a draw for me.

No. They just fix on the back.

I have the Techart aftermarket solution and am very happy with it. It does replace both the front and back part of the “old” buttons and makes the front part stationary. I did not want to lose the multifunction wheel features and more importantly having matching leather with matching deviated stitching, swapping the wheel was not an option to me.
