While I am careful around the car, there is always the possibility of a scratch from dropping a tool, bump by shopping bags, etc.
Have read through the discussions pro and con, and decided on a light weight, perhaps nylon (avoids lint on the fabric roof) ... I would like more of a loose fit ... sort of a toss over, draped cover.
Recommendations for sourcing something like this? Which generic size? Experiences with lightweight, loose approach?
I've always used generic fitted/semi-fitted car covers from places like autozone, napa, orielly's, etc.
I wouldn't worry about anything beyond whether or not it actually fits on the car -- any car cover of any remotely decent quality will be made of (or lined with) something that won't cause issues. If you want something to just toss over the car loosely, consider picking up a couple flatsheets from your local bedding store, otherwise most car covers will have at least one elastic band to grip around the tires and bumpers.
I use the thin form fitting ones on all my cars including the cab. They don't leave anything on the top... You can get any color; all mine are black. Took my wife 3 months to notice a new car in the garage because they all looked alike...

I use a cheap sheet when the car is not 100% clean, which with the help of my wife just drapes over it. We take it straight up and off so as to not drag it over the paint. When the car is cleaned though I use a satin cover from M-covers, which advertises in Panorama magazine...very nice, and cheap.
I am beginning to like the simplicity of the sheet solution - seems like it answers the "draping" mail and is soft enough to not scratch ... EASY availability, too!
