In a previous service visit they did some work on the right spoiler connection. I tweaked the metal pins a little hoping for a better connection and zip tied the connection nice and tight but no improvement. The connector does look like it’s been overheated but doesn’t look burnt. Any idea how to confirm what the problem is? The fan does run I just get the intermittent each time I drive it. I also unplugged the fan and still got the error.
is there a way to determine which fan is causing the code?
Have you tried swapping the fans and seeing if it doesn't run. Also fans can be found on ebay for relatively cheap. One of mine failed recently and it seems like a common failure.
I have a 13 991.1 and had a failure. Mechanic found it after removing the bumper to replace a horn. Ordered 1 from Wilmington Porsche. ( best price I could find for OEM). Never had a warning from the PCM.
I haven’t bought a new or used one to swap it out. I can swap side to side easy. Both run the couple of times I have checked.
Is this warning telling me it’s the back engine fans and not the front radiator fans?
is the pcm sensing an over the limit draw or something?
Ahhh I see what you are saying, you are not sure if it's the radiator fans up front. One thing to check is if there are little pebbles blocking the fans in the front wheel well that does happen sometimes. Just turn the wheels left and right to create some space for you to check with a flash light.

We experienced this exact issue, and eventually the fan stopped more frequently and we were able to spot which fan was dying. A year or two later, the other one went. I got the OEM replacement from ECS Tuning. Easy fix and it didn't break the bank.

When my air extraction fan started to fail it was intermittent and when I smacked it, it would work again, they def heat cycle a lot back there and just wear out.
