Agreed, I had this setup, but the Numeric Racing just brings it to more of a "race car" feel thats super mechanical. The cables also introduce some gear whine from the transmission since there is zero plastic and rubber in the cable to dampen that noise and vibration. At this point it's a personal subjective thing. I swapped the cables as I have friends with 997 and 987s that were left stranded with broken OEM shifter cables, as the plastic ends wear and fail over time. The constructions of the our cables and previous generation seem to be similar but perhaps they updated the plastics to be more durable. Personally I saw it as an excuse to upgrade and I am VERY satisfied and would never got back. BUT the install is a pain in the *** for sure. Difficulty I would put at 6/10 but PAIN IN THE *** FACTOR 8/10.

Get the 2mm spring too.
the ONLY mechanical difference the stock OEM shifter and the GT4 one is a shorter shifter shaft and a center return spring, everything else is the same.

Get the Numeric. I have the GT4 shifter in my GTS and it feels great and yes the only difference is that it's shorter and has a center spring, but that's all the difference in the world. I got to feel the Numeric shifter after I had my GT4 installed, and did like the overall feel of it, but Im not kicking myself for having the GT4 shifter, it's a huge upgrade over stock.
