Default Headlight switch removal 2012 991.1 Carrera cab

Hello everyone. Just got back on Rennlist a few days ago. Sold my 993 a few years back and just picked up my new to me 991.1. Been around here long enough to try and search first. maybe my skills searching aren't as sharp as they used to be, but here is my issue.

Get the car home reset the TPMS because of the new 20" rims and did the Homelink thing, all was good. Went to turn on the headlights and the **** fell off in my hand. the male end of the **** that extends into the switch was completely broken off. The female end inside the switch protrudes out enough that I can get a pair of pliers on it and rotate the **** left or right. The switch functions as it should. I positioned it to the "AUTO" setting so I can at least drive the car.

Before I break out the proverbial hammer I was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the switch. I have one on order so it will be here in a couple days. I did find a short clip from Tony Callas
on a 987. The switch is the same in appearance, but I am not having any luck.

**** is not in the switch

**** is in the switch but just rotates 360 degrees with no functionality

**** on the cabriolet roof.

I also found this, but the DIY was centered around replacement of trim around the switch https://www.macarbon.com/install_gui...stallation.pdf

Also found this but no joy https://www.planet-9.com/threads/any...module.224593/

I did this over a year ago when I had the lower dash out to cover with alcantara. Unfortunately, I don't remember anything about the switch change. I think it must have been pretty straight forward and I figured it out by looking at it.
The planet9 directions seem correct.
1) Remove trim
2) Push in slightly on perimeter of switch and turn counterclockwise
3) Pull switch to remove wire connector
4) Install is reverse of above
When you get the new switch, I think you will see it is like a quarter turn camera bayonet mount.

Edit.... I just looked at some eBay 991 light switches and the ears and quarter turn mechanism seem clear. Here are some eBay screenshots of the mount too

Hope this helps.

DanQ,

Thank you very much for your response. Can always count on the RL community. The inward shots of the lower dash you provided brought it home. Still waiting on the switch to arrive but seeing the lower dash and the bayonet style mounting setup made it clear. Thanks again.
