Default 991.2 oil change reset tool question

Hey everyone. Getting ready to do my first DIY oil change on my 991.2 911 Carrera 2 S. I have everything ready (pretty straight forward process) EXCEPT for the PCM oil interval reset. I know there’s been a few threads on this before, but wanted the most recent experience from people. I have a friend with a 2013 991 Carrera who is willing to lend me his scan tool that he bought from Amazon. But after further research, I learned that it may not work with the 991.2. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01N7SYB8L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the one he is willing to lend me.

my question is, what system do you guys recommend that I use, and does anyone have any further insight on this?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve got an iCarsoft 3.0 which is probably overkill for just oil life reset. But, if you do your own brake fluid changes, etc. it’s a pretty fantastic tool to have.

icarsoft 2.0 would be perfect for just the oil life reset I’d assume?

So many threads on this!

The icarsoft POR v2.0 (not to be confused with the POR II) will do this. The 3.0 is basically the same thing as the 2.0.

There are devices out there for about half the price that do what you need as well. I think foxwell?

I bought this Autel unit Feb '20 for $99 of Amazon and it has worked fine the last two oil changes to reset the indicator.

Amazon Amazon

You have to set it up for "your car" online, once, via the included USB cable. I created my account, then went to the Autel web site to register it and activate it for my '17 991.2. Use is more or less straightforward. It connects via the OBDII port under the driver's side. Menu selection is a bit weird, but it does the job.

One negative is at this price point, you don't get things like Battery Management System reset. So if you plan to do your own BMS resets/swap batteries, you might want a tool that does that. But this one is ok so far.

This is supposed to reset light. The next model up does battery service.

Does the iCarsoft 3.0 activate the ABS module during brake flushes?

iCarsoft POR-II Porsche OBD-II I bought off amazon ($120). It's fine for oil DIY. If I had a "do-over", I'd get the POR v2.0
