Congratulations! An important thing for this community and future buyers will be to update this post with your first impressions once you've driven it a bit. There is nothing like a 911!

Congratulations!
For you to have used the word “underwhelmed” in describing your experience and yet to have bought it in the end is testament to what a Porsche can do.
Yep. I'm taking a leap of faith into the Porsche brand here.
I'm hoping that it's just something I'm not used to with having to push the car harder with a more linear go to redline vs all the torque down low. Most of my driving is highway/spirited. Plus the lack of digital displays and all the cool things AMG does. (plus those AMG steering wheels - pure beauty.)
I'm not going to lie, i have some doubts & am somewhat sad to leave my AMG behind. But i can always get another one at some point... It's tough because of the power of the AMG + the luxury of the interior.
By the way, bought the car out-of-state, so hoping it will be here in 1-2 weeks! Will start a new thread for sure!

Some high-flow cats and a Softronic tune go a long way in the base. Keeps it safe but ups the game quite a bit. Link the new thread in here once you start it!

Is the 991.2 base enough? I drove it last week (the one i drove did NOT have SC) but it seemed the PDK didn't rapidly shift (i didn't take it for a long time)
I'm coming from an AMG C63S & wondering if i should hop on a 991.2 base?
I would love an S, but the $115k they are going for isn't going to be feasible right now for me as $100k is my limit.
There's a great base (GT silver, PSE, Sport chrono, bose, 14-way seats, spyder wheels, 2017) that i can get for about $95k certified with 18k miles + 2 years warranty.
I've always wanted a Porsche & i got the C63s because i just became a Dad but we have another car for that & the 911 just takes my breath away. But i'm worried coming from my C63S that the base will feel lackluster & i'll miss it for the power + all the features.
Questions:
1) Are the 991s soo overpriced now & may come crashing down in a year or so? (I'd want to move up to an S or 992 in the next 3 years.)
2) Is the 991.2 base enough?
3) Does the S PDK shift faster than the base? (Seems like it may be the case from YT vids i watched)
4) Do you notice a difference from the brakes not being 6-piston?
Bonus: do you think the C63s will depreciate a lot given the next gen is a hybrid 4?

Congrats!!!
On the 911 and becoming a father.
Looking forward to pics of your new ride.
Hopefully you'll be satisfied with the power of your 911, but enjoying a 911 is far more than about what it does going straight.
I had a base Boxster (987.1; manual) and C2 (991.1; PDK), and the power was more than adequate for my daily driving needs around San Francisco and on the fun drives around the bay area.
A new addition to the family forced me out of the 911.1 (couldn't find a rear-facing infant seat click-in system including a stroller that I could get into the 911 and still comfortably drive the 3 of us around).
But our child has grown big enough to use a car seat that fits into the rear of a 911, and so recently picked up a GTS (manual).
In between the 911's included a BMW X6M (F86) and M3 (F80 ZCP, manual), and I did appreciate the immense torque of those 2 vehicles.
So maybe I'd now find a base 911 a little underwhelming, but handling and steering feel are more important to me than linear thrust, so I'd still be more than happy with the overall driving experience,
You are going to love it. Mine is a step down re infotainment & layout from the BMW that preceded it, however, it's well good enough and easy to acclimate to. It's a drivers car that's purpose built. The MB, while superb, is built to net a wider pool of prospective buyers. Your 911 dispenses with much and gets down to business.
My wife drives a '22 X7 and we just got back from several hundred mile road trip. The tech in that is absolutely first class. I don't miss it, couldn't wait to get home and kiss my 911 hello lol
I've had 3 991.2s and absolutely love them. Not sure where/when I would use another 50+hp ........
This is the first time I've chosen smaller hp and been thrilled. Congrats!!!!!
