Default 991 Convertible top stain/ discoloration

Looking to purchase via Carvana and car cannot be seen or inspected prior to purchase. Is this discoloration/ stain fixable?

Maybe …

A horsehair brush and good quality top cleaner can do a lot. My suspicion is that at the very least you can make it better.

I just spent about 14 days, at least an hour a day, trying to clean the soft top of a 2011 Saab. Despite all the effort and many different cleaning products, even bleach, I could not get all the stains out. So it is far from certain you’ll be able to remove the stains from the Cabriolet, whatever they are. If I were you, I’d assume the stains cannot be removed. My reasoning is simple: if the stains could be removed, don’t you think the seller would have done that? More importantly, though, ask yourself this: why would you purchase a car - any car, let alone an expensive to buy and expensive to maintain 911 - that can neither be seen nor inspected prior to purchase?

Forgetting the convertible top issue for a moment, I would generally caution against buying a Porsche without doing a pre-purchase inspection.

Looks like wax. Likely waxed the A pilar cross brace without dropping the top. It will go away on its own eventually, provided the car sees some rain on occasion.

Thanks for your input.
Yes I always do PPI for all my Porsche purchase.
However in an online car seller like Carvana there will be no opportunity to do Pre-Purchase inspection but can do Post Purchase inspection as they offer a 7 day return policy if you don't like the car.

I agree with Al.fresco, it looks like someone got over zealous with the polisher or wax, and didn't tape off the top. If so, it will likely come out with some Ragg Top cleaner, horsehair brush, and some elbow grease. Just be gentle and don't force it.

As a side note - a friend recently purchased a BMW from CARVANA . An after purchase inspection revealed, among other things, that all for wheels were somewhat out of round and the two brand new tires they installed were not run-flats (as required for the vehicle). Additionally, the wheels were very badly refinished - CARVANA basically spray painted them right over the brake dust. CARVANA was very good at resolving the issues - paid a local BMW dealer to install 4 new factory wheels, 4 new tires and perform other repairs.
If you end up buying the car, get it inspected and make a claim for all undisclosed mechanical and cosmetic issues.
