Default Streaming to USB port in 991.1

Does anyone know whether it’s possible to stream audio (e.g., Spotify, Pandora, etc.) from a cellphone or laptop to the car’s PCM though the USB (“iPod”) port in a 991.1? Or, is it necessary to use an adapter DAC (eg, as you’d use with headphones) to convert the cellphone or laptop digital output to analog and stream through the analog Aux port?

No.

That port is used for mass storage (usb stick style) or AA/Carplay. You'll have to use the 3.5mm for this.

I’ve done that too. But I’d like to try to stream without lossy compression, which might sound better.

You can play music through a USB cable or through Bluetooth. I plug my iPhone into the USB port and am able to play (Apple) music through the audio system. Simply select "iPod" as the source and it should work. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I have the Burmester system.

Thanks for your post. Plugging into the USB port to stream rather than using BT is exactly what I was hoping to do. I don't have the right cable to plug my iPad into a USB-A port, but I will soon. :-)

Your music on the iPad or laptop is stored in a less lossy format than Bluetooth audio?

Yes. I have CD quality music files stored on my new iPad Pro (now with a USB-C connector, so I need to get a new cable that’s USB-C to USB-A.) But also, I stream Amazon HD and other better than lossy audio. So I want to avoid AuxBT if possible. Not that I’ll likely hear a difference in the car, but I want to try it.
