Default 991.1 rear lights upgrade with 991.2

Hello Newby here and 2 weeks ago I bought a 2012 991.1 Carrera S with a 25K miles on the clock. Actually this is my second Porsche and my 2017 Base 718 cayman was my first which I never plan to sell but keep as much as I can because my first P. car and still in love with it.
Long story short I immediately go in to the upgrade business like my cayman and made a to do list &weekly plan for my 911.
I made search in the thread but couldn't find my answer probably been spoken before now want to ask once again I want to change my rear lights with 991.2 rear lights
1-Is it possible to make this change ?
2-Can I do it in official porsche service ?
3-Did anyone who had done it live any problem with it?
Thanks for your feedback

If you want to switch the taillights you will
end up having to switch the rear bumper as well. You will need to make sure you obtain the correct rear bumper as some variations will leave a gap.

It can be done, but you have to change the bumper. Here is one post, I think there are others.

Thanks very much for your information changing rear bumper is good with me because I also would like to change that rear bumper with 991.2 version so I will combine both lights and bumper together when I am buying

I love the looks and color of the 991.2 tail lights also. I wish a simpler solution existed, like a vendor making a 3D style one that fits the existing 991.1 opening. You'd think that would sell well (also no harm no foul, easily reversed).. And while at it, they could repro the headlights that are cracking like crazy and undersell Porsche by $500 per side, and make a living...
Can't believe this is not a recall yet.

Has anyone considered it tried this:

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out!
$1,119.81 | 2PC Car Taillights for Porsche 911 Tail Lights 2012 2013 2014-2018 Upgrade RearLamps DRL Brake Lamp Turn Signal Auto Accessories
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPDAByy

Looks very close to a 991.2 style without the need to replace the rear bumper.

Be careful. Have seen these ads. Message the sender and ask specific questions about need for bumper change. I have messaged a few of these ads, and from my experience, you need to change bumper regardless of what the ad says.

+1, most of these folks have no clue what they are selling (they are just resellers, and don't manufacture or test fit any of these). If you look at the notch, there's no way the 991.1 bumper won't see a hole there unless those taillights bulge out. And they use a 991.2 in their ads....or they would Photoshop the taillight onto a 991.1. Still don't see the appeal of these .2 changes, and the 992 looks even worst...guess it's more appealing to the new gen.

Funny enough after having owned 991.2 and then 991.1, I prefer the .1 tail lights they seem more distinctive looking to my eyes

edit - taillights!

That's awesome, too bad we are talking about tail lights here.

Captured for posterity!
