Looking to buy a 2015 GTS
Hi all,
Just looking for some advice. I am really interested in buying a Carrera GTS, 7 speed manual. It is a *I think* 991.1 version of the car, with the 3.8L engine, non-turbocharged. Are there any known issues with that car?
The one I am looking at has good service history, 27k miles and looks pretty much perfect.
I am also tempted to wait a bit and find a 991.2 version which is a 3.0L engine with two turbos, meaning a healthy does of extra power can be extracted with mild tuning ( or is it not recommended on Porsche?; I am running a tuned TT BMW for quite some time...).
Many thanks for any feedback

Feedback? given the current market for used cars and sports cars in particualr (Covid, chip shortages, delayed purchases), buy what you found if it's nice - yesterday... Waiting to find XXX will likely result in overpaying by quite a bit IF you even find such a car.

I was looking to see if there are any known issues with these cars I should look at when I inspect it... It is mainly to make sure I don't get a lemon for 100k dollars
Cheers

Not really no... 991s are good overall. Niggles are COV (vacuum valves) getting toasted, easily changed. Door panel (non leather) warping, gas tank occasionally squeaking (tighten strap), can't think of anything really really bad... The only active warranty extension affects gearbox on some early models (reverse light switch) but I believe those predate the GTS... Nothing really... Jsut check for overrevs on the DME if it's a manual...

Thanks, I understand. I know about the market, I just sold my Shelby GT350R for a nice profit after 3 years and many track days

The biggest issue with a 991 Gts manual is finding one if you want a low mileage one that will not break the bank. BAT today, 2016 sold above Msrp,

Nice. I have a 2016 with just under 10K miles on it and have had no problems with it. These cars seem very well built and reliable. I know there have been PDK problems across the Porsche lineup, but mine is a manual, as is the one you stated that you are looking at. What are they asking for it? I would jump on it if it is reasonably priced. It will likely hold its value for a long time.

I have to echo the statement regarding the scarcity of 911s.
Flexibility is key as finding the “one” will be difficult.
Back in 2018, I was searching for a 911 but it was impossible to locate what I wanted so ended up ordering one.
Glad I did and got a late run 991.2 C4S.

Sorry, just read your post and it's not very convincing now , is it 10k miles ??? I have over 140k miles on my 335xi, that is something.... or did 7k miles of track days -only- with my (now sold) GT350R , and had no problems whatsoever ....
