This thread is timely, I JUST noticed that my oil temp in my T in “Normal” mode settles around 223F, but in Sport it hovers around 196.
Is the car actually doing something different in Sport/+ to keep the oil cooler or is it just changing the report?
yes
even in the Old (and slow) 991.1 cars, Sport mode activates an oil cooler lowering oil temps significantly. Its the only mode I use just for that reason.

Use Normal mode for faster warmup (and in frigid cold), and Sport mode for operation when warm.
I just posted something about this on one of the FB 991 groups and someone replied with this photo (not my photo) showing the water temp at 221F. Just trying to understand why it appears higher in some cars than 194F?

I have been blessed with a 2013 991.1 as of April 2021, (The best of the past 6 Porsche cars I have owned), no Sport Chrono, and no Sport PASM, just your old basic PASM. no sun roof either....it is old, 7 years, but slow? I haven't seen that side of her yet. On a more sober note , one option to get lower fluid temps, run in Sport Mode always, and if you want the car quieter, assuming you have Sport Exhaust, just turn it off with the PSE button.
You want your temps to drop, add the center radiator. According to friends with the radiator added, expect a 15 degree drop in fluid temperatures. If the center radiator is good enough for the 991.1 GTS, it's good enough for me. My local shop is installing it for about 3 hours of labor, sweet! Install date is September 8th!!!!!

Our cars have a deadband between 185 and 220F on the water temperature in which the guage shows 194F for all those values ( yes it walks up to 194F when heating up, but then the deadband starts.
On my 981 cayman, whichs uses the same setup, it would show 194F on the water until I hit oil temps of 275F or so, it which case I got water temp in the 221 to 224F range).
On my 991, I also have the center radiator, so I have never gotten my oil temp high enough to force the water temp out of the deadband.
Just trying to understand why it appears higher in some cars than 194F?
A few reasons why the water temp is so high:
1) oil temp at 234F
2) ambient temp at 101F
3) gas mileage at approx 15.6mpg (265/17)
I think this car has just been run hard.
