992 GTS PDK
The GTS PDK still has the stupid, mini electric shaver gear selector. Why doesn't Porsche make the sequential shift a option, like on the GT3? I can't live with just paddles. For that reason alone , I wouldn't give up my 991.2 PDK.

I kind of expected the GTS to get the same PDK shift **** as the GT3, also disappointed it did not. I shift more with my gear selector than paddles when driving around town.
In general, I'm not really feeling any reason to change to a 992.

Driven the new 8-speed PDK on track in a Carrera S and it’s an awesome transmission and car, I agree that the new shift “****” really doesn’t fit the Porsche image.
The 991.2 is more to my liking, mine isn’t going anywhere.

I've read some back and forth between the 991 and 992 guys. Not to cause a rift and start a debate, but the 992 guys are just wrong about defending that dumb "gear selector" all the while bashing the 991 lever in contrast. Yes, I and many others love the feel of using the 991 PDK lever to shift gears. It's a sequential lever with a great tactile feel, especially in Sport +.
Not sure who was thinking what when it came to many 992 design choices. I don't know... I'm 32 years old but was raised by "old schoolers", it seems like Porsche is going after the "millennial" crowd with their direction. I guess thats me but it doesn't fly here. That gear lever, among other things is most definitely a downgrade. Even the lever in the 992 GT3 is cheap.
The 991 PDK shifter is milled out of a full aluminum block. It's a work of art and something to admire. I like details, craftiness and ingenuity... I don't like cost cutting and the 992 interior has lots of that. Does anyone here the "cha-ching!" from the $$$ Porsche is saving and chasing?.. It's all about the share holders I guess.
This is also a common issue on the new one

Burning Brakes
There is a fix for the 992 PDK shifter cracking, but it’s a $700 option for the aluminum Braun shaver.
I have driven the 992 and while it was a tech bonanza, the restrained theatrics didn’t blow me away. It’s objectively a fantastic car, but stepping back into my T with carbon buckets and more noise (plus manual transmission) it was a completely different drama filled “sporty” experience. I might consider the eventual T version of the 992, but I think the only thing I would really pursue next might be a 991.2 GT3 manual when/if prices ever fall back to earth.

The braun shaver and it's problems does not mean the halo 7 speed PDK-S GB and shifter should just be ported around.

i feel like they would bring back some sort of 991 like shifter in the 992.2 iteration. EVERYONE hates that braun ***. Even most 992 guys hate it, and they compromise by just accepting it because the rest of 992 is so good for them. I would think Porsche will get the hint and bring back a shifter for the 992.2. Then I would think alot of 991 folks will jump. that braun shifter is and was a deal breaker for me. I'll stick with my 991.2. if they bring back the shifter, although I'm committed to my 991 for life, the 992 will be awful tempting.
pssst Porsche! please dont ever change that braun shifter
