Default 991.2 how to control spoiler height

Hey guys,

I'd very much like to control the height in which my spoiler is deployed to. So far I found if you put it all the way up, then press and hold the button for about 1.5 seconds it lowers it right to the middle spot ( see pictures). I'm not sure the point of this but I'd love if i could keep it in this position.

What are my options? Ideally I'd like to retain the control of the button that way i can put it down or all the way up if needed, or just let the car control it automatically if tracking the car etc or wanting to put it down for weather or when parked.. Right now in order to get it the middle position which i like I need to be outside of the car leaning in to press the button as i watch the spoiler go down. This isn't possible if you are in the driver seat because you cant see the spoiler at all except when it's in the full upright position.

I believe that by you holding the button for a short time once it’s up, you’re starting the process of moving it down and interrupting the process. Once you begin moving, the car will go to full up or full down. You have to press and hold while stopped, and can just press once while moving to move the spoiler.

You can’t adjust the spoiler height by any button or process. Only way is by dealer programming and this is done in conjunction with what aero you have on the car. Ie- the base has a lower height spoiler than the T and aero package cars.

You don't. Just leave it to its own devices.

My understanding is that the higher spoiler is automatically deployed above 75mph and when your sunroof is open to counter the effects of a longer roofline. Otherwise, provided the sunroof is closed, the car will raise the spoiler to the lower height regardless of speeds above 75mph.

The spoiler should be able to be coded for the sport design package. I have a Carrera T and the spoiler has a more aggressive deployment angle than the base car (possibly the S as well, not sure). I installed the OEM rear sport design spoiler and had the dealer code accordingly. It provided a similar position to what you are looking for. The GTS has a similar spoiler position

I believe it is addressed in this thread (post #25 actually provides the coding instructions). https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1164...install-5.html

you can use PIWIS to edit heght of spoiler.
max height is 810 steps ,
stock height of 991.2 GTS is 620 steps.

Any 2-way shop tablet should be able to edit those parameters.

I recommend leaving them alone unless you're modifying them in response to changing the aerodynamic properties of your car, rather than the common "ew it looks bad gross why doesn't it stay down" crap.

Too bad the Porsche Engineers couldn't figure out what the best deployment height angle is for best handling and aerodynamics.

Truly.

It's a good thing we have random people on Rennlist who know better than those shoddy Porsche engineers!

Always-up 911 spoiler is like a popped collar. Change my view.

The rear spoiler is set up to work properly to adjust down force over the rear of the car at different speeds and in conjunction with your front aero. It’s not cosmetic nor should it be. Let it do it’s job.

Personally driving around with it up for looks only could be a bit hokey. Just my opinion.

Like the quaker state engineers, I’m sure those at Porsche have more college degrees than they have had dates! ;-)
and of course I can’t link the video

I’m sure that the bean counters do put limits on certain costly things, but overall the cars are engineered pretty well.
