Default Remanufactured parts under factory warranty?

Has anybody ever seen a manufacturer use refurbished parts for warranty work? This is not Porsche related but my Mercedes GLS 450 needed a low temperature coolant pump. The service notes call the part a reman pump and googling the part number brings up refurbished parts.

Not sure if I should care but for Mercedes quality that seems odd. Especially when in the upper end models.

Sounds odd if you had your Mercedes repaired at a dealer.

If there's a significant cost savings I would not mind the option to go with a remanufactured part.

Just had the AEM done on my ML, and they used several reman parts.

I know when it comes to OEM parts, such as Bosch, remanufactured parts are common. For instance, an alternator either won't be made anymore, or is cheaper and is a rebuilt unit. I wouldn't have an issue with it as long as the part is warrantied like any other genuine new part is (which it should be).

If I were out of warranty and they gave me the option and it’s still warrantied sure. But too me this is a new car still under factory 4 year / 50,000. It has 5700 miles on it. Seems a brand new part should be required.

Diesel? I'm trying to hold out until the dealers have good experience with doing it. Mine has been trouble free for almost 90k miles so far (I've been using archoil 6200 every other fill up)

Similar to previous post, my ML diesel had the emissions recall and, according to the service tech, some of the parts were remanufactured, as they aren’t made any more.

From what I’ve experienced, reman parts work just fine and some have had OEM bugs eliminated or updates.

I’m sure that somewhere in the OEM warranty there’s a clause that allows reman parts to be used.
