Default A shout out for 000

If you're not subscribing you're missing out. Fascinating stories, a treasure trove of pictures and I search in vain for an editorial mistake. They're brutally honest about the Taycan too- I couldn't imagine a more frustrating car to own. Although I'm sure it's a pleasure to drive before it stops stone cold dead.

Not a subscriber (yet), generally what did they say about the Taycan? Not asking for screenshots of the article, I’m curious because I’ve been considering one for my wife. Thanks and I’ll check out a subscription soon.

Same here; I don't follow the Taycan threads but would be interested in a link.

Great magazine, by the way.

Many thanks, George! And I can't tell you how many hours go into the goal of your observation in bold. (Partly because I don't want to know! )

^ The short of it: The Taycan is pretty impressive as an EV replacement for a Panamera/Macan/Cayenne, which any fool can figure out on a test drive or press launch (including this one ). What we wanted to know is what happens when you hold Porsche's first EV to a higher standard—the one set by the crest on the hood. So we hired one of the world's best automotive writers to push a Taycan Turbo S to and beyond its considerable limits alongside a 911 Turbo S on great roads as well as a closed track. His findings were fascinating…but cost 000 several thousand dollars to help him reach, and still more to publish.

I get the hesitation in taking the plunge with 000 (!), but recommend what @wareaglescott did years ago: Try one back issue to see if 000 is for you. I'll simply say that our goal was the high art of magazine making, delivered four times a year for about the cost of dinner and a show of two. Or one front tire. Or an hour or two of shop labor, depending on where you live. The good news with Issue 017 is it's already unlocked for individual sales and part of one of our rare back issue sales (the bad news is it shouldn't be part of the back issues sale, but I'll leave that alone as we put it up).

For those of you who already subscribe to 000, or have in the past, I want to say thank you for supporting this crazy initiative from the bottom of my heart. We have a lot of ideas for the years to come, but the only way we got to 2021 was your support.

Great magazine - but it's truly more like a book than a magazine that is for sure. Quality is top notch. Insider access to some very cool information.

Pete says the name itself came to him when he saw a factory prototype that read ‘000/918′ and instantly thought “that’s it!” He liked it “as a quiet nod to Porsche’s model numbers — which are usually three digits — and because people car people talk in code. The real anoraks don’t say we own an M3 or 911, we say we own an E36 or a 993.”

To answer you Schiin and if I can paraphrase, 000 called it a marvelous car and a hellacious experience. If you can't charge the thing it's a $200k piece of dead metal (with a very limited range) and you'll need to call a taxi or a bus. And in the UK there's no where to charge it. Even in the US I wouldn't want to deal with that sort of uncertainty. Who in their right mind would pay $200K for a 4 door city car that needs to be ushered home every night? For a little more or less money you could buy an Aston Martin Vantage or DB11. A Ferrari Roma. A Panamera GTS. Or dozens of others .

And BTW thanks Pete- I really can't say enough about how good your magazine is.

Amen, George. No truer words were ever written. By the way, a 000 subscription makes a gift no car lover will ever forget.

God bless,
TT

My children went together and bought me a subscription last Christmas. Great gift. Beats the hell out of a new tie, socks or underwear.

Pete, please don't sell my #17 copy as I've yet to receive it via our less than stellar postal service.

OK, our support but also your genius, Pete. And let's not forget Alex.

God bless,
