So I have a manual T. I get a message in the dash stating to manually restart the car when I do the following:
1. Stop the car
2. Put it in neutral
3. Put the parking brake on
4. Let go of the regular brakes
5 Car stays on but may be in auto stop (green A symbol)
6. Message comes on
Does anyone experience this or know why it can’t just idle without requiring a restart? Does it have to do with auto stop?
I checked the online 991.1 manual that is floating around; it seems to be related to a particular condition of the A.S.S system. It's mentioned on page 127. Seems like normal operation perhaps, since you released the brakes at step 4?

I have a manual 4S not a T but I have never seen that message.
It will do that when you place in neutral w parking brake on. My Cayenne does same even if I leave in P, no park brake but I open door. PITA
either leave in neutral with foot on brake (don’t use park brake) or turn off auto start stop. Car has hill control so if on incline, push brake pedal hard when on an incline and hill control will engage. No need to us park brake.

I periodically experience what you describe including the message, but with engine shutting off not staying on - in a gts. I do not know why. I’ve just viewed it as an annoyance.

Yes I find it a bit weird but it mostly happens when I’m parking my car anyways. So it doesn’t really affect me that much, but I’ve never experienced that in another manual car.
I have it happen every once in a while (manual as well). Mostly happens when I get home and stop in the driveway if I am in normal mode so I don’t upset the neighbors or sleeping kids.
