Default Center Radiator 2013 991

Just left the Cayman Forum, sold the car, bought a 2013 991 Carrera S...sight unseen from a Porsche dealer, it's a CPO car. It's will be arriving in about a week...just curious, does the Carrera S come with a center radiator standard equipment? My former 981 Cayman GTS did have one. I do see that these radiators are for sale from Suncoast for about $750...seems like a deal. If I don't have one, I am getting one.

My new (to me) car also has an unusual option, Engine Cooling for hot climates. I have no idea what this option entails...anybody know?

The car also comes with Option ZAC, No Sunroof. I love the idea of this. I have had two (2) previous Porsche cars with sunroofs, an 80 SC Weissach and a 1997 Carrera narrow. body. May have opened them 2 or 3 times...glad for no sunroof, more gear room and reduced weight up high.

third radiator is not standard here in the US, it is standard on the GTS or cars with X51 motor upgrade. They are standard in hot climates like the middle east. Perhaps your car was ordered and they ordered the center radiator as an option? It's a nice option to have, but not super expensive to add later if it doesn't have it and it's something you want. I think the Porsche OEM kit is around 600-700 dollars.

On on the no sunroof car, thats an option worth having. Search here on 3rd radiator I added it to mine for $650. I think (verify) when Sports plus enabled it runs 10 degrees cooler. I always have plus turned on even though i sometimes turn pdcc and pse off.

Had my 2012.5 C2S since new. Center radiator, (as on 997) was not standard or an option. Never had an overheating issue, but likely would get one if I tracked in hot weather, or if I thought it looked that much better, just because.

I am not familiar with an extra cooling option - there was none for the US when I got my car. There is, standard, an oil-to water radiator mounted above the engine (not visible when the lid is raised) that opens when Sport or Sport Plus (in SC equipped cars) mode is selected, and immediately lowers coolant temps from around 220 to 190.

I have a sunroof, and must have opened it from the front 6 times in 9 years. It opens to the outside, has no effect on headroom, and is too noisy at speed for me. But, popped the back, it ends the severe wind buffeting that comes with all 991 coupes when the windows are opened. An AWE Wind Diffuser or something similar is a good fix. Search for it here or any Porsche forum if the buffeting bothers you.

Default Great Feedback..thanks.

My car is coming to me from Naples FL, very warm in the summer...4 months of hell say some. The car resided in this area it's entire life and I am thinking the original owner was heat adverse....hence sunroof delete and thus 'Engine Cooling for hot climate" option. It is listed on the www.stuttgart.com options list as "Sports Plus seat 4-way electrical, left."

Center Radiator....I see they are about $700, I plan on getting one of these, just to sat within the "Cool (Fluids) car scheme.

It wouldn’t hurt. My C2S 2014 spends half its time in Palm Desert and never had a cooling problem with std 2 cooling radiators. Yes, Sport+ and temp comes down 20d. Unless you are doing an occasional track day, id say it isn’t necessary.

LIES, it's 100% necessary because it looks better! It's analogous to the empty button slots when you know there is option and your car doesn't have it. LOL

I installed it on my 991.2 C4S as I didn't care for the bogus center plastic filler (removing that filler piece was the worst part of the install).

All the mounting and hose connection points are already there so why not.

BSO - Does the filler piece "remove"? Or does it have to be cut out?

it's clip in to the bumper, nothing needs to be cut to install the 3rd rad.

On my '19 991.2 C4S, the plastic filler piece slips in, a series of built-in clips around the perimeter lock it in place.

I had to partially disassemble the active slats to clearance the filler piece, this allowed me to manipulate the locking clips and remove it. It was not easy because the filler material doesn't flex and is

surprisingly heavy, but if you persevere, it will come out. The picture shows the perimeter locking system.
