Default 991.1 S -Clicking or mechanical sound when car parked -not locked

I just purchased a 2012.5 991.1S and noticed today while the car was in the driveway unlocked and engine off, it was making a periodic clicking or mechanical sound. Anyone have this issue or know what it is?
Thanks for your feedback.

Metal cooling down and making noise. Canning? Kind of like you kitchen oven makes when it cools down?

That's not it. Car wasn't running or warm/hot. The sound was similar to when the headlights turn off automatically.

the ticking of cooling metal is one possibility but my car, when parked and unlocked after a drive, also makes various mechanical sounds.

it's the sound of mechanical actuation similar to the sound of locking and unlocking the doors but quieter. it does it at about 15 minute intervals for a few hours after a drive if left unlocked.

my mechanic said to just keep the car locked when you're done driving.
