After a few years, it will stop working normally as the battery degrades. I even kept mine on a tender when not in use and it would always give me the "A" with a slash through it in yellow indicating AS/S was selected, but not able to be used due to something not passing its thresholds. Most common are too cold outside, low battery, or just after start. Once you get a new battery, it AS/S will work fine.

You mean people actually use this?? Who'd thunk it.. Pretty sure Porsche added it just to appease the feds.. At least they added a switch to disable it, thank gawd..

I don’t use it but since my cpo runs out this year I wanted them to fix it . Afraid it maybe connected to some other function that I do need or want. It is a 2013 with 30k miles pdk cab c2s

It isn't connect to anything. Your dealer is going to replace your battery and charge you $600+ to "fix it".

Ok - In case you want to check, I believe in 2013 *** could be switched on or off, and it would persist between start cycles. So if you switched *** off, once, you didn’t need to do it if you stopped and started your car,

My ‘14 981S was like this, *** was off when I bought it, and it never ever got turned on.

I believe in 2017 with the 991.2, Porsche made it such that *** HAD TO be turned off EVERY TIME you started the car. You could no longer just have it ‘remember’ the state. My 2017 C2 is like this. Fortunately I switch it to SPORT reflexively now so I don’t worry about ***.

Just an idea to explore...

If it is the battery it might not be covered, or fully cover. Batteries are a "wear item".

my 2014 also retains last *** setting. They will not give you a free battery unless there is something defective about it.
