Default PSA - Workshop Campaign 2012-2014 MT

I filed a Petition with the NHTSA after my reverse lights stopped working due to the actuator failing inside the manual transmission, which I alleged was a manufacturing safety defect.

The investigation is still ongoing, but Porsche has filed a workshop campaign with NHTSA to replace any effected transmissions and send them to Porsche AG for analysis. PDF’s attached.

I encourage every MT owner to check their reverse lights.

Hmm. I wonder why only 2012 to 2014. Different manufacture? my 7-spd. is a 2016 but it works fine.

Is the actuator in the PDK different?

They likely identified and fixed the problem after that time period.

It is in the shifter rather than the trans IIRC.

Wow thank you for putting in the effort to get this done, I have a 2012 1/2 and don't have this problem but it is nice knowing if it was to happen in the future I'm covered.

Firstly, THANK YOU for your effort.

Is there an indication in the documents, I can’t find any, as to how long this campaign is available, both in terms of mileage and years? I don’t have this problem now, but should it happen, the prospect of a new transmission is very welcome.

It’s almost an incentive to use reverse often. I already prefer backing into parking spaces. So, I’m concerned Porsche will try to limit this quickly. I would almost equate this to the 991.1 GT3 engine issue with subsequent warranty.

Just drive around the neighbor in reverse. As much as you can. Maybe everyday. Yes every day. Maybe it will fail.

Sorry, just had to. I think you knew it was coming.

Ha! Maybe I’ll just sit in the car and jerk it. In and out of reverse, that is...

Just got my letter today as well. I wonder if my replacement transmission is covered as well.
