Any issues with an early 991.2 build?
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a 2017 MY 991.2 Carrera S. On Vinanalytics, it says the car was built in May of 2016. Seems early!! I wanted to know if anyone would have any reservations buying a car built that early in cycle? It is a CPO car but thought I would ask.

mine was built 01/16, arrived in US around 3/16 and sold 8/16 with 2K on speedo...car has been excellent...rear lid struts went out 7/20 as well as infamous water pump...other than that car is tight, no rattles, everything works, paint is perfect...CPO makes it better....

My '17 has had the following replaced or repaired under original and CPO warranty, all nicely distributed within the 56k miles it currently has:
- PDK replaced (it was making a rhythmic noise at idle for ~10k miles and they opted to just replace the whole thing)
- Rear strut mount replaced (common issue)
- Water pump R&R (common issue)
- Engine lid fix (common issue)
- Both sun visors replaced
- Front axle lift fittings tightened (common issue, also a TSB I think)
I don't believe any of these problems are specific to the early .2s though. I think the turbos were a bit more finnicky in the MY17 .2s, but that's me barely remembering something I read on rennlist, so grain of salt..

Ditto. Mine (2016 production) went out just months before the original factory warranty expired. Still decided to get the Fidelity Platinum plan though before the warranty expired.

Just about 4 years and 10k miles. Water pump was the only issue at about 8500 miles. Build date is 11/16. Car is rock solid and a blast to drive.

1/17 build date with almost 30K miles. Only issues were water pump (we almost all had this) and some oil overheating during two track days. Note it was north of 100 degrees in the desert both times it happened. Other .2's were probably 10-15 degrees cooler than me at the same event. Other than that, just a few rattles that can and will be fixed.

Thanks all for the replies. This car is a CPO car with only 11000 miles. Sounds like i need to see if the water pump was replaced!! My only other issue with the car is they just put on new Pirelli PZeros at the rear. I want those off and Michelin Pilot Sport 4Ss put on. Wonder if they will work with me on that?
Thanks again and I will report back with pictures if it works out!!

All 4 will need to replaced. Don't lose the car over a set of tires.

Just an FYI- I don't think the Pirellis are so awful. At 10k miles they are a bit noisy, but you will find the 911 noisy anyway. My rears have a year or so left or 3k miles. Fronts are fine. I tracked the car and the whole combo of the car and tires is so much better than me, my tires were not holding me back. I am a huge fan of Michelins, and have had great luck with them. However, you will be fine if you can't negotiate out of the Pirellis. Good luck with the pursuit .
