You will need some side mufflers. If the previous owner doesn't have them for you, you could try Ebay or maybe email Darin Fister who may have a set of stock/unmodified parts:
https://fdmotorsports.net

Or you could order his modified side mufflers (still will be a lot quieter than what's on there now).
Next time I pull my rear bumper cover for any reason, will be installing a set of Fister side mufflers on my 991.2S. Good product.

Thank you for the info, I love it being loud but it really drones even with the PSE on off (well not much difference between on and off 🤣🤣🤣.)

I would love a nice loud sound like an old 911 but without drone, I want the groul, the burps, while still being able to hear the beautiful notes of the engine without the drone. How is the Fister? Worth it or should I go to totally aftermarket mufflers?

In the meantime she came back with a great PPI, and couldn't be any happier. I also ceaned the garage to make room for her!

I think the stock PSE center works great with stock side mufflers on the 991.1 - it's loud enough for most people and has the switch which is nice, and still is aggressive when turned on, has some overrun etc. Maybe someone can demo their stock PSE system for you to get a good idea how it would sound before going into further modifications. The Fister mufflers on that car would still not drone with the switch OFF, but it would be quite a bit louder (than stock side mufflers) with the PSE turned on.

Great looking car, congrats! I've heard of several members here getting great 911's through Carmax and it sounds like their warranty is pretty solid. That's a great spec for a base Carrera, too.

I agree with @Dan@SharkWerks on ways you can dial back the exhaust noise a bit without going too soft. There are quite a few YouTube videos with different comparisons, but it is always hard to capture good audio with camera phones, etc.). I have a buddy with a 997.2 C2S (very similar 9A1 engine as your 991.1) that did the Shark Werks center muffler bypass and Fister side mufflers, and it provides the perfect blend of growl and livability (no drone). I think you would be happy with that kind of setup.

Enjoy!

Today I finally went for a drive, and what an amazing experience. I loved every single second in the car!

I took her on some canyon and what a joy! Couldn't stop smiling!!!!

I'm also starting to like the Sharkwerks side muffler bypass... It has a really bad drone in the 2-3k range, but if you are more aggressive having the car ranging between 3-5k is lovely loud but pleasant! And below 2k there is no drone.

I was shopping for an exhaust... Now I'm not so sure...

Couple little mods since I got it: bumper plugs to hide the horrible license plate hole and new center wheels with colored crest.

Hey there neighbor! I'm in UTC/La Jolla - not far from you and just got my 991.1 in December as well. Congrats - the car is a beaut!!

Be safe, enjoy the car and see you out there on the streets!

I would put stock mufflers back on, and add catted headers. No drone, increase in the tone you want when you want it, and a noticeable seat of the pants increase in the mid range that these cars lack. My buddies full bolt on 997.2 GT3 used to pull on me... not anymore.

Thank you, did you find yours?

Yes, I went up to Palomar. I have been living in San Diego for the past 5 years and it was the first time I went up there. Beautiful place and super fun road!

Not yet... inventory is low right now so just waiting for the right one to come along. Palomar Mtn is a great drive, both the front and back side roads are lots of fun.

I'm interested to see if you end up changing the exhaust
