Default New to Porsche and this forum

Been a long time car enthusiast but certainly no car expert and am lightly on the audi forums. Have owned several German cars including BMW 335is to 535, Several Audi A4's lightly modified and now an SQ5 with exhaust and lowering module. Recently purchased a 2017 midnight blue 991.2 C4S. First thing that comes to mind is WOW!!! by far the best overall car I have ever owned. The handling is amazing without sacrificing ride quality. The PDK transmission is fast but still smooth without being jerky. I look forward to driving it each and every time I take it anywhere.

I do have a few newbie questions. First off how often do you get your oil changed iv's been told every 5,000 to 6,000 miles? Secondly i am looking to purchase an extended warranty on the car as it was not CPO when i purchased it from a private party. Do any of you have extended warranties or third party warranties on your cars?

Last question is in regards to the exhaust. My car came with the factory quad exhaust 2 outlets on each side and not the PSE. Do any after market companies make a direct replacement exhaust for the car or will I have to upgrade to the PSE style exhaust?

Welcome to Rennlist! Congrats on the new car.

I change my oil every 5-6,000 miles. Regardless of low mileage, oil should be changed every year.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum. I'd recommend trying to chip away at the extensive history of posts, I've learned a lot and there is a tremendous amount of information buried in there. Good folks here that are generous with sharing their experience and knowledge.

Here's a good link to a recent discussion regarding warranties:

Welcome, and start reading the threads in this forum, or search for what you are looking for...lots of useful info along with some chuckles (and frowns).

Welcome and congrats! I change my oil per manufactures recommendation which is 10K miles or once a year, which has been pretty close either way for me. Extended warranties... have fun with that and if you use the search function, you will get votes galore either way. I had one on my 997.2 and used some of it so I had partial benefit. When my CPO on my 991.1 came close to expiring, i got a few quotes, but at the end decided not to purchase.

Very nice 911. Congratulations, enjoy in good health!

Regarding exhaust for non-PSE models, this: https://www.sharkwerks.com/exhaust/p...arrera-SHAX506

It was night and day for sound and character. I'm not 100% sure on fitment since you have a 4s, but Sharkwerks should be able to sort that out.

I called them today and since it’s a C4S unfortunately it will not fit.
