I had a similar issue with my 2017. Turns out there was a service bulletin having to do with a fuel line or connector. When I took it in for service the smell was so bad they were afraid to start it up fearing an engine fire, so they pushed it into the service bay.

I might try check the bulletin for my car. thanks!
