Auf Wiedersehen.....

Auf Wiedersehen.....
I've been driving Porsche's since 1978. I told myself that when I got to the point I when I could no longer easily enter and exit a 911, that I'd move on. Well I've reached that point and decided to sell my 911. After seeing what a 2017 C2 went for recently on BaT.com I took the local dealer's offer of $74,000. That was just over what I paid for the car last December when I purchased it when my lease was up. I saved myself all the hassle of a private sale. I left the car with them last Wednesday with 13,000 miles. I only drove the car 1800 miles since December. They had it listed for CPO sale on Friday at $90,998. Good luck trying to get that price. From the photos posted, I think all they did was a light detail. I doubt they did any service on it all, although none was needed.
So, I'll see you somewhere down the strasse....

We all have to walk that path, but you had fun with your cars, keep those memories.
You can always try a sport coupe or sedan. I know they’re not 911s but they can scoot pretty good nowadays.
Best wishes to you.

I understand.....
Luckily I still have the ability to get in/out of my 911T, even do OK with the Miata, but the "average entry/exit speed" is down somewhat!
My first Porsche was a 912 in 1967, I count my blessings every day.
Good luck on the next ride, keep us posted on what you choose!

I'm right with you FRED R, the entry / exit is getting tough for me as well at age 66. Have you tried a Cali T / Portofino? Much easier to get and out of, more comfortable, still mind-blowing fun. That's the direction I am going. SL Mercs are great if you don't mind the weight.

Take care, Fred:
There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple too
And up in the nursery an absurd little bird
Is popping out to say, "Cuckoo"
Cuckoo, cuckoo
Regretfully they tell us cuckoo, cuckoo
But firmly they compel us
To say, "Goodbye", to you
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good night
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, adieu
Adieu, adieu, to you and you and you
So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen
I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye
I leave and heave a sigh and say "Goodbye", goodbye
I'm glad to go, I cannot tell a lie
I flit, I float, I fleetly flee, I fly
The sun has gone to bed and so must I
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye

Thanks to all for your best wishes. Last March I traded my Panamera white whale for a smaller BMW M340i. It has about the same hp and torque has my Carrera. It’ll fill the bill for
now until I get the urge for something else. I’ve owned two Fiats in my time, a 124 Spider and a Ferrari F430. I don’t wish to travel down the Ferrari road again. They’re outrageously expensive to service, and dealers act as if the are doing you a favor by taking you money. If you think the Porsche Tax is high you have no idea of the Ferrari Tax. As a mechanical engineer I was underwhelmed by the design build, fit, finish and attention to detail of my F430.
So let’s just wait and see where the road takes me.

To others, who may be in a different circumstance, try and sell on here first. Cut the dealer profits out of the next transaction.
To Fred R. C4S,
Well, you certainly got your Porsche time in. Thanks for sharing some of that experience in this forum.
