911 ownership Journey so far - Love to see yours...

I was early in middle school when Risky Business came out. Had a 928 poster up in a week. A 944 poster soon followed. Others followed that all the way through high school and a lifetime love affair with Porsche was cemented. So fast forward and I spent 21 years in the Navy, and while the Porsche dream was always there, the money certainly wasn't. Nobody is in the Navy to get rich. While I held onto the Porsche dream from 1983 to present, it wasn't until this year I was able to fulfill it. The good news is I had a long and fun side romance with Jeep(s) for two decades. Was a fun and affordable alternative community until the Porsche could finally happen. And I still have a couple of great Jeeps to show for my time. Anyway, nobody cares about Jeeps here.
I searched for months for just the right car. I knew I wanted (1) Targa (2) NA (3) Single Owner (4) Low mileage and (5) Fun color with a red interior (no knock on black, silver and white cars but every Porsche I see is one of those three colors and almost every car I've owned the last ten years has been one of those three colors).
Ended up finding an absolute cherry single owner 2015 that was CPO'ed with 3800 miles on it and full maintenance history (dealership stamps every single year even with almost no mileage on it - thanks previous owner). Sapphire blue and the required red interior. I couldn't wire the money fast enough to hold it for me. Truly one of my proudest moments in life was taking ownership. Still waiting on personalized plates to show up from Virginia (Covid delays go figure) but finally joined PCA and can't wait to get it out there.

Probably my first and only Porsche. 2017 991.2 C2s. Took delivery spring 2016. The car almost died last year from a rat gnawing the wiring harness. Doing fine since, except recently an electric hedge trimmer fell on the car in the garage and put a very small dent and some paint chips on the left rear area of the car. Now getting estimates for repair. Sorry car! My bad. So clumsy! Plan to keep the car long term. I already kind of see it as a nostalgic gas engined sports car.
Oregon coast a couple of years ago.

My first encounter with a Porsche was at Moore Motors in Philadelphia. My dad was picking up his new 1966 Sea Sand color VW 1300.
there was a green 911 Targa in the corner of the showroom with a princely priced $7400 sticker...we should have bought 10 of them.
That was 1967 - I was 13.
I recall squinting at the VW - looking for the Porsche DNA ....I taught myself to drive in that VW at 15.
it was not until 2013 that I purchased my 991..Moore Motors is long gone as the VW.
I just noticed that the color of my 991 is close to that of the VW....never thought about that before

Currently own the Ruby Red 2013 991.1S and White 2016 981S Cayman. Wife’s 958 Cayenne not included since it is technically not a part of MY journey (until it needs maintenance or breaks anyway). First Porsche was the Ice Green 1977 Porsche 911S shown in first photo. Purchased in 1984 and sold when first child was born. Second Porsche purchased when my last child graduated from college.

I posted this once before, but seems appropriate given this thread.
Same house. Same driveway. Same spot. Different Carreras.
Oh, and now the house is a different color, and that little guy is in his mid-twenties...
The first one (a used '95 993 in Polar Ice Metallic) was my first Porsche, after a lifetime of VWs, BMWs, and Audis. I guess I always liked that German Fahrvergnügen.
My wife accidentally crushed it backing out of the garage with her old Land Rover Discovery (that's gone, too—the car, not my lovely wife. She's still a keeper.)
Took me a few decades of more BMWs and Audis (and a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro pickup truck, which I chalk up to a mid-life fever-dream) to finally get another 911, my beloved 2017 991.2 C2S in Graphite Blue Metallic.
I actually credit my wife for pushing me to get it. We were in a Porsche dealer checking out the Macan for her, and we saw this on the showroom floor. We both got in and marveled at the interior, and my wife turned to me and essentially said, "you're getting this."
It's kinda weird to think, but I don't know if I'll ever lust or hunger after another car. Almost 5 years into owning it, I find her perfect in every respect, stunning to look at, and more powerful than my skills could ever take advantage of. She's a keeper.
The car, I mean. And my lovely wife too.

my parents bought me a honda prelude when i was a teenager and i drove it for a very long time while i saved for what i really wanted.
i have only purchased three cars in my life:
1982 911 SC Targa
1995 911 Carrera
2012 911 Carrera S (991)
5-speed manual
6-speed manual
7-speed manual
a perfect 911 record. i still have the 993 and the 991.

Part of your journey is so close to mine. A 987S, wife's 958 GTS (not my journey I agree) and my Late and beloved Ruby Red Metallic 991.1S ... now 991.1 GTS and hopefully my forever 911

Like some others here, my 991.1S is my first 911. I absolutely love it and was cross shopping an Evora, Nissan GTR, and even a McLaren MP4-12C but really happy that I ended up buying the 991. It suits me perfectly and does everything amazingly well.
I'm going to be adding a 356 Roadster to the garage later this year, so I guess I am going backwards in terms of 911s???
