It may not be faster than an M4 but the experience of driving one is superior in my opinion. The 991.1 just feels special. The M3/M4 shares a lot with a mediocre 3/4 series platform. I really enjoyed my M4 but purchasing the 991.1 was a great move.
It's faster around a track and to 60mph. Not sure what you mean by the M4 being faster than a 991.1...

The last time we went to a meetup, someone had a 991 coupe in Mahogany. It was a stunningly beautiful color & definitely one I'd jump all over if I was in the market. Please share pics when you can.

+1 on getting full leather interior. Even at the used price point, the standard interior looks cheap.

Also, check maintenance history. Though they are low mileage examples, oil changes, spark plugs, brake fluid, ect should have all been done a few times by now based on age alone.

Thanks! It's actually my second brown 911. I had a 997 cabriolet that was Macadamia Brown Metallic. It was also very nice, but not as rich as Mahogany. Mahogany Brown Metallic can sometimes look brown, sometimes look purple, and sometimes so dark that it almost looks black. Here are a few pics.

I love F80M3s, especially on the track, but the F83 is not as much fun with the weight of the roof; my 991.1 is more fun to drive than any modern BMW IMHO. I was looking M4 as well but decided to go 991 and I don't regret it for a second. I still have my track prepped E36M3 but the 911 is just a joy.
This.

Should have specified - I drive a 991.1 C2. M4 was definitely faster.

The dealer called to tell me the first Porsche was certified CPO and is ready. Is 64k way out of line for this car?

That dude in the background eating a bag of chips cracks me up.

If it's the car you want and you can afford it, go for it.

For what it's worth, I say get the Mahogany as it's certainly not a common color and does stand out. Plus it's got less miles and a year newer. See if you can get the dealer to CPO the car.

As a buyer, it would be tough to get over that this eight year old base Carrera cab would cost me about 50% of its original MSRP. That's about the same residual on a three year lease on this car when it was new https://forums.edmunds.com/discussio...e-questions/p9.

But I've been casually shopping for a 991 Carrera for a couple years and this car will likely sell pretty quickly as a CPO, in this desirable color combo, at this price. Even back in March and April, 991.1's at my lola dealer in the $60k's sold pretty quick. If you like it, dooooo it.

991.1 Base is faster around a track than an M4. 991.1S is also faster to 60.

This is a BASE + MANUAL vs M4 with DCT. the base 991.1 with manual and no launch control was .3 seconds slower to 60 than the M4 with launch control. A PDK would have closed that gap. A PDK S would have been a clear winner.

If I were you and I was OK with the options, that car would be in my garage already.

It's a nice car.

I know what the instrumented tests say, but the M4 just feels fast. It's probably similar to the 991.1 vs 991.2 discussion; the .1 isn't substantially slower than the .2, but the sense of speed is dramatically different. It's enough to be completely underwhelmed by a 991.1 after being used to the thrust of an M4.

People are just different; some prefer the low end punchiness of a boosted engine, some prefer having to wind out an engine to feel it build linearly. The thing about the M4 is it definitely delivers on the low end punch, and it comes in at a much lower price point. Driving dynamics are going to be in the Porsche's favor, especially as a convertible, but there's a compelling argument for the M4.

But the other thing I'll call out explicitly though is the engine noise. In southern California, I have to imagine the top down will be down A LOT. It's tough not to acknowledge that part of the experience. The M4 doesn't sound as terrible as some others try to suggest, but it really doesn't compare to a naturally aspirated Porsche flat 6.

Personally I think leather is incredibly overrated, but pretty obvious I'm in the minority here. FWIW my last 3 Porsches have had leather and honestly I think about it about as much as I think about what direction the toilet water flows after a flush.

Except the GTS package. Contrast stitching is nice. "Standard" leather is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

Dealer said no on the CPO. Told them it would seal the deal and still said no.

While looking at inventory, I stumbled across this 911. https://www.europeancollectibles.com...arrera-s-coupe

Seems like a lot more 911,minus the cpo
