Default Latest Experience at a Porsche dealer

I took my 911 99.2 into the dealer because the the cooling fan was nicking the wheel shroud. Thought it would be covered under warranty, no problem. The dealer informed me that the repair might not be covered because my car is lowered and that it would take him 3.5 to 4 hours to take my GT3 wheels off and a couple of screws on the shroud to investigate, The total might be $400.00. Asked him why so long and he told me it is complicated to get the wheels off. All the time knowing that I have taken these wheels off in less than 15 minutes, what would you say?

If you can, I’d speak to the service manager and/or find a new dealer if feasible. Sounds like some BS.

There are plenty of indy repair shops in our region. BTW, had a pebble in front fan a few years back and the dealer took care of it.

I would start by describing how you can remove wheels in 15 minutes and asking him to describe how the lowered suspension turns it into a 3-4 hour event. Or...find a new dealer. That is ridiculous.

Try Newtown Square POTML and ask for Jesse Facer, SA, H e was my SA when I lived there. Always fair and reasonable. You are getting the shuck and jive from your dealer.

They clearly don't want your business. Oblige them and go elsewhere.

Businesses, not unlike the populous at large, have short memories.

Even though warrington is closest to me, (I have bought several cars from them) I have begun avoiding them and going to mainline.

That's a good one.

Any money they make is primarily made from after-sales and service.
Hence, we will be squeezed within an inch of our miserable lives, in order to extract the very last drop of blood from our twitching bodies.

Just FYI.

When I disassembled the front of my 991.2 to install the 3rd radiator, I found a significant amount of road gravel and tar pieces lodged in the fan shroud housing, just millimeters from the fan blades themselves, on both front fan shrouds..

This is not a good design as the vented area doesn't protect the fan module very well with the existing slats.

Did you happen to see what the fan is hitting? It's not too difficult to remove the front part of the wheel liner, then you can get a good look at what's going on.
