I have been putting a ton of miles on my 981 Cayman S and I have never once felt any 911-related envy. I actually enjoy the tighter packaging and I think it better embodies the idea of a fun sports car. Keep in mind I am of the smaller (5'8 150lbs) and younger variety so I'd imagine I have different priorities to many of the "typical" 911 owners. That being said I've been looking into finding a nice 991.2 4S for my dad as it more suits his style. He finds my frequent exploration of the higher rev ranges unamusing whenever we travel together.

Having driven both like most on here, I can say the 911 is the superior machine. The Cayman is a great car, and I would go as far to say one Cayman S I drove was simply the best handling car i've ever driven. That said, a 911 is completely unique experience that cannot and will not be duplicated by any other car by any manufacturer. My (new to me) 991.2 C2 is simply fantastic and delivers little to no discernible turbo lag. It is the only car that delivers a fully engaged driving experience while being compliant with day-to-day tasks and grand touring.

I have experienced similar reactions to 5,000+ rev upshifts in my 991.2 with my dad as well.

This has been a fascinating and fun thread to follow / participate in. I'm someone who has previously daily driven/owned a 981S and currently daily drives/owns a 991.1 Carrera and I'm still actively undecided on which "suits me" best. They're both phenomenal platforms and there's no wrong answer.

Looking forward to seeing what OP decides.

Good response. Partly because we're all in individual journeys and evolving as brand enthusiasts. Responses I've given would have all been different 5 years ago.

Well when you get down to it we are splitting the thinest of hairs given the product lines we are discussing.

Yeah. What a great community! This thread was great about giving me more perspectives on livability and what things are actually like to own. Because of everyone’s input, I went with a 911.

I just made a deal for a really well optioned 2014 C4S with under 20k miles. Picking it up on Monday. I have a great feeling about the car. I feel like it’s going to be a lot more of an adventure and interesting to own than the cayman. Plus the looks have really grown on me. And I’m super stoked about the AWD system. Didn’t even consider it before because of how bad other awd sports cars have been.

I have still been looking at caymans while I’ve been going through this. People are listing 981 GTSs for $80k now. I mean, I’m glad people are into them and are happy, but I feel like we’re on a hype train at the moment. Porsche is making NA caymans again. No way those values are going to hold.

Congratulation on your new purchase. I don't think you'll be disappointed. A white 991 with a few black accents is quite beautiful.
As you said the market for Caymans and Boxters is hot, my dealer has nothing left.

I have still been looking at caymans while I’ve been going through this. People are listing 2015 GTSs for $90+k now. I mean, I’m glad people are into them and are happy...

Beautiful car! Congrats and great choice. If you're like me the character and personality of the 911 will grow on you. The Cayman will always have its own appeal and if I were a betting man I'd bet you that you'll own both at some point in time and you won't be disappointed with either one of em!
