Default Reintroduction

Just purchased Porsche #s 12 and 13 for me. #12 is a 992 base cabrio for my wife. #13 is my second 991. This one is a 2014 geyser gray 50th Anniversary with PCCB. Loving both cars. Traded our Range Rover and my GT4. I must say though, as cool as the GT4 is (and mine was highly optioned--for sale now at Austin Porsche), the 50th Anniversary is a beast in comparison.

I had been looking for a 50th Anniversary for months. Most seem to be in California. Magically one appeared locally and in the spec and color of my choice.

Lol. My first 991 was a .2 Targa 4S. I think I missed NA and a manual gearbox. The GT4 made me miss traction, lateral grip and interior volume. The plan is for my wife and I to daily drive these two and keep them long term. We sold our other 2 DDs. We gave up cable TV too in favor of streaming. It's a wonderful time (less COVID of course).

Congrats on your new purchases.

Can you elaborate on “The GT4 made me miss traction, lateral grip”?

Like my former 981 Spyder the GT4 doesn’t have the traction of a 911 and while they feel great while cornering they tend to not grip as well around sharp transitions and initial turn in. I attribute this to less weight over the rear wheels and a more narrow rear wheel span. I love mid engine Porsches but there’s no denying the 991’s agility and composed upper end rush. My GT4 felt well underpowered to the 430 hp 50th as one would suspect. I actually preferred the balance of the 987 Spyder And R over the 981 Spyder and GT4 which both are easier to get out of shape.
