Just as a follow up to this I ended up getting the 2mm “stiffer” spring and love it. I have no way to compare it to the 1.5 version but I can assure anyone that the stiffer spring is not overly stiff and does not make shifting overly challenging whatsoever. I am by no means a strong guy and have zero issues shifting into any gear. Great mod!

To apply a little physics. The increase in the stiffness of a torsion bar (which a wound spring is) increases as the 4th power of the diameter. 1.5 to the 4th power is 5.06 - 2 to the 4th power is 16. So, the 2.0 spring is about 3 times stiffer than the 1.5.

Would be interesting to hear from the folks at Numeric, who are probably the only ones to be able to try them back to back, what the subjective difference is.

Just installed mine with shifter cables and absolutely love this kid. Based on my experience I would go with 2mm spring.
