In PA only the state cops are allowed to use radar. The local guys cannot!!

I run an escort 360 and have the ALP jammers. If I’m on the highway, I run 13-14 mph over. Only reason is a highway patrolman told me they won’t bother unless ur 15+ as it isn’t worth their time. Back roads, I’m over by 60+, but I pick my spots. The beauty of the jammers is u contest them as parking sensors, as they’re what they’re marketed as.

I ran a windshield-mounted radar detector for years. I always hated parking my cabriolet and leaving the top down with the detector on the windshield. I finally coughed up the cash and had an Escort Max 360 Ci system installed in my car with a custom rear view mirror display. I love it. It’s virtually 100% concealed, and I never have to worry about somebody breaking my window or getting into my car when parked with the top down. It gives me peace of mind.

I am running the Escort laser shifters, and they seem to be quite effective. Laser isn’t as common in Colorado as some other places, so it’s not really a big deal. I also like Escort’s TSR filter, which is very effective at filtering the traffic sensing radar used on the major highways in the Denver area. I rarely get false alerts. Finally, Escort has a live app like Waze which is automatically updated by other Escort users in your vicinity. It’s nice. The alerts show up on your phone and on the radar detector screen.

Radar detectors and Laser Jammers are illegal here.

So I am a Waze and a prayer kind of driver!😛😂

Uniden R7 and R3 before that. Very sensitive. If instant on is being used, the detector picks it up well before you encounter it as long as I am not the only person on the road. Just today on my favorite backroad, I had three encounters. Very strange for a Sunday afternoon. I would not own a 911 without a sensitive radar detector. Too risky. Highway driving is a different story.

Same here. I still have my R3 but use the R7 now. The arrows are very useful. Ka band is mostly what I encounter and the sensitivity is remarkable.

I pick my spots and enjoy the car but never maintain speeds 20 over for any length of time.

I use WAZE and a Radenso Pro, it has good range even in the city and limits false alerts. Have only used a detector just over a year and have driven for over 50. It’s been decades since I’ve been stopped.

Waze plus radar has saved me multiple tickets and I don’t drive like a lunatic. 10 cars all going the same speed the 911 will draw the cops attention, even if not Guards Red

A radar detector is like a seat belt to me. I feel naked with out having them both on!

Am I the only one bugged with the fact that this poll has basically two correct answers for most people to select?

I use a detector and I drive fast more often when using it.

In the 47 consecutive years I have owned Porsches I have collected 4 tickets requiring payments and points. However, one gave me a lesson.

I was driving from Jacksonville to Tallahassee in my 1987 911 on a lovely spring day during 1995 on Interstate 10. I was doing little over the speed limit. A big, new, black Mercedes S pulled up next to me packed with people. The driver wanted to run. I slowed down as my V1 detected a signal. I pulled behind the "Andretti wannabe". The Florida State Trooper pulled both of us over.and he attended to "Mr. Andretti" first. I sat there in amazement as "Mr. Andretti" spent about 45 minutes chastizing the officer inappropriately. By the time Mr. A had driven off, the Trooper approached my car unhappily expecting equivalent behavior. He shoved a radar gun directly in my face to show he recorded that I was traveling 80 mph (on a 75 MPH road). What was I to do?

I smiled at him and told him he was correct (actually I was going 92 when the alarm ignited). He then proceeded to spend the next 30 minutes discussing the virtues, shortcomings, finances and necessity to own a 993. It was fun for me!

At the end of the interrogation he gave me a ticket for $7.50. I had shredded my insurance card and my most recent was not yet effective.

I have used the smile/correct approach on all others and it seems to work.

Try it!

No detector here, drive pretty aggressively and not one speeding ticket since 1993. To each there own! And the fms can certainly reduce SA. We almost had a midair years ago because both guys were heads down in the box and not looking outside going into L.A....

Before TCAS as well 😎? Of course it’s not absolute and not a crutch, just another tool. Also had someone yrs ago want to FLCH and speed intervene the whole way into LAX from STAR to the FAF and asked him why and he said he didn’t trust VNAV 🤷‍♂️🙄 I flew DC9’s and 727’s as well, hair on your chest and manly men and all that. I’ll take the FMS, HUD, GPWS, VSD any day
