Default Wireless Charging While Using a Carlinkit

Anyone have both a wireless CarPlay dongle (Carlinkit or similar) and wireless charging?

While my Carlinkit solved one problem in my 991.2 (Wireless CarPlay!) it created another: no charge port for my iPhone. Now I find myself having to disconnect the dongle to plug in my iPhone for longer trips, which kinda undermines the whole reason for wireless Carplay.

My 2020 Macan has wireless CarPlay along with a Qi -powered wireless charging slot in the center console: Just get in, drop the phone into slot, close the compartment and away I go.

I’m looking for a 12V-powered, high wattage Qi charger that will fit in the center console. My current phone is a 6s Plus fitted with a wireless charging case and adds about 2 or three mm of thickness.

Hahaha, I know. While I love Carlinkit, I kept connecting wires on 1+ hour drivings just for charting functions. Basically, it's nothing different from prior Carlinkit days.
Maybe something like this?

did you check the glove compartment? It’s on the left side I believe. (991.2)

Use this,
https://www.amazon.com/CHOETECH-Wireless-Certified-Compatible-Qi-Enabled/dp/B07D2CWBS1/ref=sr_1_10?crid=3U1LHQA73SAR8&dchild=1&keywords=choetech%2Bwireless%2Bcharger&qid=1597022372&sprefix=Choe%2Caps%2C229&sr=8-10&th=1 https://www.amazon.com/CHOETECH-Wireless-Certified-Compatible-Qi-Enabled/dp/B07D2CWBS1/ref=sr_1_10?crid=3U1LHQA73SAR8&dchild=1&keywords=choetech%2Bwireless%2Bcharger&qid=1597022372&sprefix=Choe%2Caps%2C229&sr=8-10&th=1
plus this
https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Charger-Output-iPhone-Samsung/dp/B00M6QODH2/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=usb+car+charger+flush+mount&qid=1597022539&sr=8-6 https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Charger-Output-iPhone-Samsung/dp/B00M6QODH2/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=usb+car+charger+flush+mount&qid=1597022539&sr=8-6
and then run the cable from the passenger footwell to the center console. No need to remove anything, just tuck it in.

I have the CPlay2Air wireless carplay dongle. It has a USB charging port built into it as a charging port. Seems to work pretty good, although I'm getting a voice delay issue on calls.

I don’t get it. If it’s a long drive just plug it in. If you are in and out of the car all the time, just leave the phone in your pocket. Why take out your phone and open a compartment and set your phone down. That’s just as bad as plugging it in. I just want to jump in and go, run into the store and come back out and go. The wireless CarPlay works great.

Purchased items similar to what you listed. Thanks. Next step is to figure out how to pop out the smartphone tray in the centre console.

I simply placed the charging pad right in the tray, fits perfect. No need to pop out anything. A little piece of double sided tape and it doesn't move around at all. Looks almost OEM in there, and for longer drives I simply drop it on the pad, otherwise the phone stays in the pocket.

How did you run the cable? Do you have the smartphone tray or do you have the standard rear oddments tray?

I ran it under the trim piece from the 12v outlet to the tray. With the console lid closed, no wires are visible. I went to take a pic and since I have both V1 and V2, I took the time to update them as well. V1 took like 5 firmware updates hahaha. V2 only 2.

Okay. I see what you did now. Thanks for the pics. That helps!

No, I misunderstood. I am using a wireless CarPlay kit so I don’t have the issue of fitting everything into the console.
