Default Lazy question about winter wheels

Have a 991.2 4S and this is a terrible noob question. What is the best wheel size for winter wheels/Tires?

Should I be looking at a staggered set or same size?
Maybe 245/35R20 91V up front
and 295/30R20 97V

Or better with 19's?

245/295 is good.
19's could be better/cheaper ...... if they fit. dont try if you have RWS/

RWS requires 20?

There are likely some 19's that will clear RWS but it's a tight fit. There are also some 19's that clear PCCB's I gather. Best to stick to a 20" unless you're confirming fit. That said, if you're able to find something the 19 is the way to go for winters. Porsche's don't run square setups like other cars can for winter. As stated above, you will be looking at something like 245/295.

I drove last winter with a set of Michelin Pilot Alpine PA4 (235/40R19 front and 295/35R19 rear). They ride smoother than my 20in summer set. If they fit, I’d go with the 19’s.

Cars with rear wheel steering can only fit 20’s (on the 991.2), but I would do 19s.

I believe someone here posted a 19 inch wheel which fit on a RWS car. The same was said for PCCB, and there are 19's that clear the front caliper and 410's.

Porsche has many options based on the specific 911 model. There were pretty good sales early fall last year. The Porsche winter wheel sets are mounted, balanced with TPMS sensors installed. Plug and play. Just need to change to winter wheels in the MFD.

If you have rear wheel steer or ceramics your are SOL for 19" wheels. There might be some that fit but unless you have a very understanding wheel shop that can help you figure this out it will be tricky. Typical 20" setup is 245 up front and 295 out back assuming you are doing this with a second set of rims and they are no more then 11" wide. Stock rear rim is 11.5" wide on 991.2 4S and they have started making alpins in 305 so you could potentially use those if you are doing strait tire swaps as apposed to rim swaps.

Ugh!! I wish I had read your comment earlier today. I just got new HREs for Summer wheels and was planning on using my OEM RS Spyder wheels for my Winter rims, then discovered the 11.5” width conflict with 295 rear snow tires. Could of saved a lot of digging if I had just read your comment when it posted. In the end, I came to the same 305 for 11.5” width conclusion. That should do the job as my 991.2 C4S is not my primary Winter vehicle anyway.

I've got a (virtually) brand new set of winter Pirelli's on 19's with charcoal gray wheels from Tire Rack if you're interested. We'd have to see if they fit yours (they came off a 991.1) but they have less than 200 miles on them. My new "T" has RWS and came with 20's.

If you did HRE Flowforms you might be okay. If you did the big boy HRE's then anything is possible. I believe the HRE Flowform 20's for the 991 fitments are all 11" (for the rears) unless something changed in the last 8 mos or so.

This has been a helpful thread. I do have RWS on the car so looks as if the "easy" solution is 20s.
