Not sure how this happened as I’ve never used the bloody thing but my drivers side vanity mirror frame has cracked. The lid came out. Any ideas if I can order a replacement mirror (instead of a whole sun visor)?
Sadly the door fell off. So it’s just an open mirror. I’m not sure if that will damage the mirror but it looks pretty bad. Hoping I can find a replacement.
Amazingly it’s the drivers side that broke and I can’t ever remember using the bloody thing! Makes me worried about the other plastics Porsche has chosen to use.
One of mine was broken when I bought the car, the other broke within a couple days. Both replaced under CPO. Looked up the part numbers when I got the $0 bill and found that espresso leather interior made them not cheap. If they break outside of CPO I'll be leaving them broken.
Just to follow up my passenger side vanity mirror housing has now cracked. It’s probably been used 3 times in the last 5 years. How embarrassing that Porsche can’t produce a vanity mirror that won’t self destruct. The saddest part I spending over $400 for a replacement that will likely do the same. Anyone found a solution? I wish someone would make a metal mirror surround that wouldn’t crack.

Horror, the added weight!!! Just kidding. So far I've been lucky, no cracks and my girlfriend uses it all the time. (probably just jinked myself.)
just a follow up here. I just had this EXACT issue with my passenger side mirror. If you re careful try to reclaim all the broken pieces. I had 3! I then slowly epoxied them back together. The epoxy is probably stronger than the original plastic. I know on the 996 you can buy replacement flaps, but I couldn't find anything for our cars
NOTE also on the 996 you squeeze the replacement flap into place. In our cars you need to remove plastic housing from the sun visor and push the metal pins through the sides to get them installed. It's much more obvious when you take them out. And for folks with expensive leather units, you can just buy ANY visor with a non broken hinge and scavenge the parts from a vinyl cheaper non leather visor to install in your much pricier leather or alcantara ones.
I just think the plastic used on these mirrors degrade over time and just break.
