Default Airbag Removal

Does anyone have tips for removing an airbag that won't pop out?

I swapped my steering wheel again and I pushed the airbag back in but I don't think it's seated correctly or the wires are catching on something. The horn doesn't work, see first sentence, so I'm trying to remove the airbag, I can feel the clips moving up and down as I press on the metal spring part, but the bag isn't popping out like it did when I removed it 30min ago.
It's humid as hell today so I'm taking breaks in and out of the garage. I've swapped the steering wheel 2-3 times before so I'm not new to this, just running into hiccup.

Disconnect your battery (just to be safe) and give it a good tap inward to see if you can properly seat it. I do not think you can damage anything more than you may have already.

Horn only works when car key is in. I thought mine was messed up as well til i figured that out. You probably know this. Otherwise you probably may have just missed a wire plugin ?

Goodluck!

I fixed it. I used a trim removal tool and was able to get it out. The airbag was pushed in put not seated propertly, that's why pushing on retaining spring didn't pop it out.
Nothing was damaged. The wiring behind the airbag needs to be seated correctly in the channel for everything to click back in and there's no way to correctly channel the wiring. It's a trial and error thing. Some get lucky just reinserting the airbag and sliding it in, and some don't get lucky and have to re-do it a couple of times.

Correct. My airbag wasn't seated properly, that's why the car's horn didn't work.
