Default Picking up car from dealer question

I'm supposed to pick up my CPO 991.2 tomorrow but have a question regarding paying the dealer. I'm coming with my own financing from my bank but the bank sent my check via regular mail instead of overnight. It should hopefully arrive by Saturday. Can I still pick my car up tomorrow and fedex them the check? I'm trading in a Panamera will be putting down about $10k. I've done this in the past but not sure what the policy is with Porsche dealers and don't want to drive 6 hours for nothing.

Why don’t you ask the dealer?

I am sure they will allow you to send them the $10k the day after or so but it would be best to check with them since you have a long drive!

just so I understand...

you are driving to a far away dealer... with your Panamera and $10K.. and would like to "trade" Panamera in.. pay just $10K.. and promise to send the rest (majority) of funds via Fedex the day AFTER you pick up their 991.2?

If the above is correct.. would You let a buyer take your car with a small downpayment on the promise of paying the rest after 24-48 hours, via check..??

the dealer MAY make an exception given the economy and other circumstances, but this is a question for the dealer, and you need this answer before you start driving their way

good luck

I am sure they will verify the registration, driver's license, etc. so I doubt the OP is planning to commit grand theft auto, and the dealer will probably think the same way as well. Let us know OP....I am curious.

The obvious answer is NO! I wouldn't, why would they? I also wouldn't drive 6 hours *hoping* they will.

Of course they will. They let people take new cars away with no money down, just a signature.

Negative. They never let you take a car without a bank check or financing secured through them. Never heard of that happening for anyone.

I know the few dealers that I work with, never would let me drive away owing them money.

That's not the same thing. I'm surprised this is even a question.

I just bought an Audi E-Tron in December for $ 80,000. . Did my own financing. I signed a Promissory note and left them a personal check for $ 30,000 down payment and Bank of America funding to the dealership would take five days. They could not WAIT for me to drive off ! I've done this at least half a dozen times with cars, but they will pull a credit report on you and I have a score of 830. You guys that say it can't be done are incorrect.

Not me. My Apple stock returned 89 % in 2019, why sell a stock that is performing when you can get a 3% car loan? Use cheap money when you can !

I guess I'm wrong. I've bought a ton of new cars and never encountered A dealer willing to release a car without full payment or payment obligation. More importantly, how is the E tron?

When you are already set for life and it's time to spend. That's why. Maybe you will get there also.
